Background / History

Four thousand years before the present, the Douluo and Sun Moon Continents collided, triggering war. Shrek Academy called for aid, and numerous Title Douluo answered its summons to help repel the enemy. The response demonstrated an influence so great that the three empires became wary of the academy. 42

The Shrek Academy Outer Court was subsequently established as a compromise: it opened enrollment to the entire continent while giving the three empires a channel through which to send descendants. 42

The Inner Court is situated on Sea God Island. 1 Shrek is regarded as the continent’s number one academy and carries a reputation built on ten thousand years of glory; it had also won every tournament for the preceding millennium by the time of the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament. 180

Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament

Shrek enters the tournament in Star Luo City as the defending champion. Although its sixteen-year-old captain initially draws ridicule from the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy, the team’s reputation causes other academies and spectators to regard it with awe and hostility. 179 180

Lin Ciyan assumes complete tactical command. He emphasizes the team’s unusually strong composition—Soul Emperors, Soul Kings, Twin Martial Souls, Ultimate attributes, and strong soul-ring configurations—and tells the members that victory should be expected. 179
