Background & History

Jiang Nannan grew up in a small commoner home in the slums of Mysterious Heaven City. Her father had died, while her mother supported them by growing and selling flowers until illness left her bedridden. Jiang Nannan became responsible for the household despite their worsening circumstances. 17 18

She recovered memories of a previous life and learned that her mother's illness would eventually drive her to seek help from the Mysterious Underworld Sect. In those memories, this led to her entanglement with Xu Sanshi, a future she feared but initially considered accepting again in order to save her mother. 18 20

Le Zhengyue found her before she could approach Xu Sanshi. His guards removed men harassing her outside her home, and he visited her and her mother with food. Shortly afterward, his forces destroyed the Mysterious Underworld Sect and captured Xu Sanshi. 20 22

With her mother needing treatment and her alternatives removed, Jiang Nannan accepted Le Zhengyue's terms: she would become his handmaiden and accompany him, while he would relocate and provide medical care for her mother, fund her cultivation, and not touch her before adulthood. 23 24

At the Le Family estate, Le Zhengyue tested her loyalty by ordering her to cripple Xu Sanshi and destroy his martial soul. Jiang Nannan complied, prioritizing her mother's safety over her past connection to Xu Sanshi. 29
