The next day!
Today was the first day of school at Shrek Academy. Feng Tianyu could not afford to be late, so he rose at the crack of dawn to compete with four hundred people for a single restroom.
Unlike yesterday, when Feng Tianyu had registered, the other students were in class, leaving the academy grounds nearly deserted.
But today, Feng Tianyu was one of the students, and his schedule was identical to everyone else's.
The moment he and Grey Wolf stepped out of the dormitory, they caused a sensation among the other students. A grey wolf standing upright on two legs had infiltrated the student dorms, terrifying the crowd into screaming as they assumed a soul beast had broken in.
Of course, there were those with more courage who surrounded Grey Wolf, summoning their own martial souls. Some utilized Martial Soul Possession, while others brandished their tool martial souls, causing waves of formidable pressure to ripple outward.
Yellow and purple soul rings shimmered, the two colors reflecting off one another. Under the glow of these rings, everyone looked eager to strike, ready to engage at a moment's notice.
Students capable of joining Shrek Academy were the cream of the crop, geniuses among soul masters and the elite of the younger generation.
Surrounded by so many Soul Grand Masters and even a few Soul Elders, Feng Tianyu was taken aback. One wrong move and he would be facing a mob beating; even if he survived, he would be severely injured.
Grey Wolf, originally bleary-eyed with sleep, had all its fur standing on end. It shrieked sharply:
"How dare so many of you surround this Great King! Do you think I am easy to bully?"
"I shall let you fellows see the power I obtained just yesterday!"
"Wind Blade Array!"
A green light flickered across Grey Wolf's body. Feng Tianyu's internal soul power was stirred, but he quickly suppressed the surge, causing the green light on Grey Wolf to dim.
If Grey Wolf wanted to unleash a soul skill, it required a supply of soul power from Feng Tianyu. Without that power, Grey Wolf was like a clever housewife unable to cook without rice; no matter how many skills it had, it couldn't execute them.
"Feng Tianyu, why are you holding me back?"
Grey Wolf questioned him.
Feng Tianyu hurriedly pulled Grey Wolf back, his gaze sweeping over the crowd as he explained in a deep voice:
"Fellow students, this is merely my martial soul. Please, there is no need for such alarm. My martial soul mutated into an externalized form; it dislikes being confined within my body, so I summoned it outside."
Under his explanation, the crowd was filled with wonder, though they did not immediately retract their martial souls. One student stared at Feng Tianyu and questioned:
"School has been in session for months, and the Freshman Tournament has already passed. How have we never seen you?"
"And you look like you're only six or seven years old. Are you actually a student of our Shrek Academy?"
"You didn't participate in the Freshman Tournament, and we've never seen you before. Could it be that you only joined the academy yesterday?"
Under the weight of so many gazes, Feng Tianyu remained calm and composed. His eyes, overly mature for his age, held a cold, sharp glint as he nodded and replied:
"That is correct. I did join the academy only yesterday. My name is Feng Tianyu, and I was specially recruited into Shrek Academy by Dean Yan Shaozhe."
"As you can see, my martial soul is quite unique. From now on, we are classmates. This is my martial soul, Grey Wolf. I hope you will all look after me."
The scene erupted into a commotion once more. The students whispered among themselves, having largely accepted Feng Tianyu's explanation.
This unique externalized martial soul truly filled them with wonder. They had initially thought a soul beast had snuck into the dorms, but upon reflection, no soul beast could infiltrate Shrek Academy. This was the continent's premier academy, teeming with experts and under heavy guard.
Although Shrek Academy's rules were strict and there was no precedent for enrolling months into the term, Yan Shaozhe was the Dean of Shrek Academy. If he gave the word to specially recruit a student, who would dare say otherwise?
Since Feng Tianyu was a special recruit of Yan Shaozhe, he was a genius favored by the Dean himself, and the students dared not truly do anything to him.
One by one, they retracted their martial souls, and the shimmering yellow and purple soul rings vanished into the air.
Some of the prouder students glanced at Feng Tianyu and then at Grey Wolf. While curious about the mutated externalized martial soul, they held their own pride and did not believe a mutated externalized soul could be superior to their own inherited martial souls.
Without saying much more, they gradually dispersed.
Another group, keen on socializing, stepped forward to greet Feng Tianyu, enthusiastically trying to build a connection, either fishing for information about his martial soul or probing his relationship with Yan Shaozhe.
Feng Tianyu remained steady and calm, deflecting their questions with ease.
Just like that, a disturbance that could have sparked a massive brawl was neutralized by Feng Tianyu's composure and steady handling of the situation.
Beibei, who had been sweating for Feng Tianyu just moments ago, took advantage of the dispersing crowd to finally squeeze to his side. He grabbed Feng Tianyu's arm in excitement:
"Tianyu, I was really worried for you just now. Facing those Soul Grand Master and Soul Elder level classmates and seniors, you weren't intimidated at all. Instead, you handled it so calmly—it really opened my eyes!"
"If it had been me, I definitely wouldn't have done as well as you. Surrounded by so many Soul Grand Masters and Soul Elders, I might not have even been able to speak clearly."
"After what happened today, you're bound to become famous in the academy. A soul master genius with a mutated externalized martial soul who is favored by the Dean—your name, Feng Tianyu, will spread through every grade."
Feng Tianyu exhaled. To say he hadn't been nervous at all would be a lie; after all, the formidable pressure emitted by so many Soul Grand Masters and Soul Elders had made his hair stand on end.
But he didn't feel fear in his heart, because the dormitory building's warden was Mu En, a level 99 Limit Douluo. Could he really let anything happen to him inside the dorms?
Feng Tianyu let go of Grey Wolf, whom he had been gripping tightly:
"Just luck, that's all. We are all classmates in the same academy; I believe everyone is reasonable."
"We don't have time to waste. Beibei, let's hurry and wash up. Do you know where Grade 1, Class 1 is? I'm a transfer student for that class!"
Beibei calmed down, returning to his usual gentle and refined demeanor:
"I do. I'm a transfer student for Grade 1, Class 1 just like you. Just follow me in a moment."
Following this, Feng Tianyu and Beibei each drew water to wash up.
Grey Wolf, having no sense of being the culprit, had a face thicker than a city wall. It flexed its claws, looking arrogant as it declared:
"Hmph! If Feng Tianyu hadn't held me back, I would have let them know the true power of the Great King Grey Wolf!"
Feng Tianyu cupped clear water in his hands and splashed it onto his face. The refreshing sensation cleared his mind, and hearing Grey Wolf's words, a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes.
That was just Grey Wolf's personality: arrogant until he took a beating, then immediately submissive. He was incredibly flexible, knowing exactly when to back down once he'd been taught a lesson.
After washing up, Feng Tianyu took Grey Wolf and followed Beibei out of the dormitory. The other students they encountered along the way no longer made a fuss upon seeing Grey Wolf, merely casting curious or inquisitive gazes at this mutated, detached martial soul.
At the dormitory entrance, Mu En, who had been lying in a rocking chair, opened his cloudy, aged eyes upon seeing Beibei and Feng Tianyu.
Beibei harbored resentment toward his great-grandfather; despite possessing unparalleled strength, Mu En had been unable to protect Beibei's parents, leaving him an orphan.
It wasn't quite hatred, but there was an underlying sense of dissatisfaction.
Seeing the flicker of stubbornness on Beibei's face, Mu En felt a pang of heartache but was ultimately helpless. He had raised Beibei with the utmost care since childhood, yet he could never truly compensate for the grief caused by the absence of his parents.
He then turned his gaze toward Feng Tianyu, his lips moving as he offered a voice of praise:
"Steady in temperament and calm in handling affairs. Tianyu, you have done very well."
Feng Tianyu smiled, showing no signs of arrogance; on the contrary, he remained very humble:
"It is precisely because Mu En is here to oversee the student dormitory that I can feel so confident."
"Mu En, we shall take our leave now."
Mu En watched the retreating figures of Beibei and Feng Tianyu, feeling deeply pleased. His face was full of gratification, for these were the future of Shrek Academy...
