Ch. 1Drawing the Sword of Selection

Leon El'Jonson arrived at the church to claim the Sword of Selection and become King of Britain, but the sword initially would not move for him. He forced it free by brute strength, and the chapter ended with him raising it before the gathered lords and knights.

  • Leon arrived at the church with his adoptive brother Joe and learned that his father, Luther, had gathered lords and knights to witness him draw the sword.
  • Leon put on Fairy-blessed armor and took up the enormous greatsword his family had commissioned for him.
  • Leon failed to draw the Sword of Selection, alarming the crowd and worrying Luther and Joe.
  • Leon used overwhelming strength to smash the stone around the sword and pull it free, leaving a crater beneath him.
  • Leon raised the Sword of Selection above his head as the crowd looked on, and a herald called on the lords to pay their respects to their king.

Ch. 2The Blond Bedhead King

After drawing the Sword in the Stone, Leon was acclaimed king and gathered supporters while planning to seize Camelot with a small force. Two messengers from the royal court arrived, and Leon recognized one as Kay and discovered the other was Arthur, whose familiar cowlick unsettled him.

  • Leon was proclaimed the Lion King, and about sixty knights pledged their allegiance to him.
  • Luther estimated that Leon could gather around six hundred men, and Leon agreed to lead them against Camelot.
  • A guard reported that two messengers from the royal court had arrived, and Leon ordered them brought inside.
  • Kay introduced himself as Merlin's messenger and identified his younger brother as Arthur, who said she was only accompanying him as an attendant.
  • Leon noticed Arthur's cowlick and began to wonder which Arthur she was.

Ch. 3Merlin

Leon realized that Arthur was Artoria and suspected he had crossed into the Nasuverse, but focused on claiming Camelot after drawing the Sword in the Stone. Merlin recognized Leon as king, revealed that his Clairvoyance could not perceive him, and faced Leon’s question about removing the sword’s Magecraft.

  • Leon recognized Arthur as a girl and suspected she was Artoria, then wondered whether he had arrived in the Nasuverse.
  • Kay explained that Merlin wanted to speak with Leon and scattered flower petals to summon him in the church.
  • Merlin accepted Leon’s claim to the throne because he had drawn the Sword in the Stone, though he could not promise the rest of the Camelot Court would agree.
  • Merlin told Leon that his Clairvoyance could not ordinarily perceive him, and Leon asked whether Merlin could undo the Magecraft on the sword.
  • Merlin noticed that the Magecraft on the Sword in the Stone was still active.

Ch. 4Marriage Alliance

Leon had Merlin remove the Magecraft from the Sword in the Stone, then announced his plan to marry Morgan and secured Kay's oath of fealty. Merlin and Artoria returned to Camelot to deliver Leon's decree, while Artoria remained under Leon's watchful eye.

  • Merlin recognized Leon's overwhelming strength, dispelled the Magecraft binding the Sword in the Stone, and accepted Leon's offer of friendship.
  • Leon told Merlin to inform the court that he intended to marry Morgan, a descendant of King Uther who was already married.
  • Leon asked Merlin to place Kay and Artoria in his service; Merlin proposed that Kay serve while Artoria trained for a few more years.
  • Kay swore loyalty to Leon before a priest, and Leon accepted his oath.
  • Merlin and Artoria departed for Camelot in a swirl of petals after Merlin agreed to carry Leon's decree.

Ch. 5Like an Angel

Merlin concluded that Leon El'Jonson was an otherworldly Angel and warned Artoria to avoid him, while choosing to watch his actions from the sidelines. As Leon prepared to take Camelot, he spoke with Kay about their bargain and then led his assembled troops in pledging himself to the mission entrusted to him by the Lord.

  • Merlin told Artoria that Leon was dangerous and advised her not to meet him alone, then decided to wait and see how Leon fared.
  • Leon asked Kay about his resentment toward Merlin and his feelings about Arthur, and promised not to harm Arthur as long as Kay remained loyal.
  • Luther informed Leon that the troops had assembled, and Leon left the church with the Sword in the Stone.
  • The commanders of Leon's bodyguard, combat centuries, and logistics battalion presented their forces to him.
  • Leon declared that he would devote his body and soul to fulfilling the mission entrusted to him by the Lord.

Ch. 6A Single Sword Strike Routed an Army

Leon led his outnumbered army to Camelot, where a hostile force blocked the city and a representative claimed he did not know why the court had turned against Leon. Leon routed the enemy with a single sword strike, then led his troops into the shattered ranks as Camelot’s defenders watched in fear.

  • Leon accepted the enemy army’s declaration of war and learned that its attack had interrupted the Camelot nobles’ earlier offer to recognize his claim.
  • Leon ordered the captured Camelot representative beheaded and raised his head as a battle standard.
  • Leon swung his greatsword and sent a vast slash of sword energy through the enemy’s front ranks, killing their commander and many knights.
  • Leon charged the scattered enemy with his knights and guards while Luther led the farmers in to encircle them.
  • Camelot’s defenders watched the one-sided slaughter from the walls and recoiled in fear.

Ch. 7Entering the City

Leon defeated the rebels, entered Camelot, and took control of the royal city. He confronted Merlin over hiding Arthur, then ordered Luther to begin eliminating the noble families and wealthy residents.

  • Leon learned the Sword in the Stone had broken, reviewed the victory’s spoils and casualties, and ordered prisoners reorganized into new units.
  • Leon gave his army three days to reorganize while the people of Camelot surrendered the city and sent him heads and chests of gold and silver.
  • Leon entered Camelot as the inhabitants knelt, accepted the noble representatives’ pledges, and ordered their descendants into his army.
  • Leon met Merlin at the palace and learned that Arthur was still training in a hidden location.
  • Leon questioned Merlin about hiding Arthur, then told Luther to systematically wipe out noble families and wealthy residents.

Ch. 8Morgan

Leon pressured Merlin into freeing Artoria and agreeing to stop the killings after a few more families were made examples of. Merlin returned the broken Sword in the Stone for repair, then brought Morgan to meet Leon in person to discuss their marriage alliance.

  • Leon threatened to kill Camelot's subjects until Merlin agreed to free Artoria.
  • Leon made Merlin apologize for hiding Arthur, then ordered Luther to select two or three families to be killed as examples.
  • Merlin returned the Sword in the Stone's scabbard, and Leon gave him the broken sword to repair after learning it had shattered because Leon broke his promise of chivalry.
  • Leon asked Merlin about Morgan's answer to the marriage proposal, and Merlin explained that she wanted to negotiate in person.
  • Merlin led Leon to a palace room, where Morgan emerged from a mirror and greeted him.

Ch. 9Morgan's Conditions

Leon met Morgan, and the two agreed to marry despite Morgan revealing that she planned to use him to unite Britain before killing him and taking power. Leon accepted her conditions and warned that her methods could not harm him, leaving Morgan wondering whether he truly loved her.

  • Leon met Morgan and proposed to her, and she readily agreed to become his wife.
  • Morgan demanded that Leon kill her husband, raise her children Gawain and Agravain as his own, and unite Britain.
  • Leon agreed to Morgan's conditions and reasoned that Gawain and Agravain would be valuable additions to his household.
  • Leon guessed that Morgan planned to poison him after he united Britain, and she confirmed that she had already prepared poison and other plans for his death.
  • Leon told Morgan that poison, curses, and assassins could not kill him, but said he still intended to marry her.
  • Merlin watched Leon and Morgan's exchange and was appalled by their mutual willingness to harm one another.

Ch. 10The Plan

Leon struggled with his feelings for Morgan and considered coercing her into marriage before turning to Camelot’s food shortage and the looming conflict with the King of Orkney. He planned to lead one battalion north to defeat Orkney, then continue against the White Dragon and the Saxons, while his forces guarded Camelot and trained new recruits.

  • Leon told Merlin he feared accepting Morgan’s proposal would make him look weak, then described threats he would use to force her to agree if she refused.
  • Merlin condemned Leon’s extreme plan and left to discuss Leon’s coronation with Luther.
  • At a council meeting, Luther reported that disaster-struck Camelot could not requisition more food, and said the potatoes available could not adequately supply a marching army.
  • Merlin reported that the King of Orkney had gathered five thousand troops and more than twenty thousand men overall, while Canning said Camelot had 3,126 soldiers.
  • Leon decided to take one battalion and two thousand laborers north to reclaim Scotland and defeat Orkney, then move east against the White Dragon and the Saxons.
  • Leon ordered his father to guard the royal city and train the other battalions, and directed Merlin to accompany the campaign.

Ch. 11Made in Heaven

Leon routed the King of Orkney’s army, captured its capital, and used Merlin’s modified Rhongomyniad to destroy the evacuated city. He left the city in ruins, while the displaced residents mourned their lost home.

  • Leon led a force of about six hundred combat troops through seven charges, defeated the King of Orkney’s twenty-thousand-strong army, and killed the king.
  • Leon marched north, disguised his troops in enemy gear, tricked the capital’s garrison into opening its gates, and captured the city after a day of fighting.
  • Leon accepted the nobles’ surrender, demanded supplies and hostages, ordered their private soldiers to keep order, and had the residents evacuated before declaring he would destroy the city.
  • Merlin told Leon that Morgan had already returned to Camelot, then showed him the modified Rhongomyniad, which could release its power four times.
  • Leon unleashed Rhongomyniad at the empty royal city, reducing it to ruins as the displaced people watched and grieved.

Ch. 12Vortigern Was No Match for Him Either

Leon recruited Scottish knights, marched against Vortigern, and defeated him in a single exchange before crushing the Saxon army. After subduing the surrounding territories, Leon reached the sea and asked Merlin what lay beyond it.

  • Leon ordered Merlin to have royal officials collect taxes in Scotland and recruited more than six hundred local knights into a new unit.
  • Merlin explained that Vortigern was the White Dragon of Britain and the island’s living avatar, but Leon dismissed the danger.
  • Merlin used his Clairvoyance to locate Vortigern, and Leon led his troops to attack him.
  • Leon ran Vortigern through with a spear, but Vortigern escaped, leaving his army without its commander.
  • Leon defeated four successive Saxon forces, took hostages and supplies, and ordered the locals to search for Vortigern and subdue resisting city-states.
  • Leon’s army advanced to the sea, where Leon asked Merlin what lay beyond it.

Ch. 13Triumph

Leon returned to Camelot after reclaiming territory from Vortigern, ending his campaign because his army lacked provisions, and prepared for his coronation. As Morgan welcomed him privately, she kissed him and asked him to give Britain to her.

  • Leon abandoned his pursuit of Vortigern when his army ran out of provisions and turned back for Camelot, where preparations for his coronation were nearly complete.
  • Luther and Camelot’s officials welcomed Leon outside the city, and Leon handed over the captured treasure and hostage troops.
  • Luther told Leon that the newly conquered territories lacked officials and were falling into disorder, so Leon ordered their local nobles to govern while their heirs remained hostages.
  • The people of Camelot welcomed Leon’s victorious return, and Morgan greeted him at the city gates.
  • Leon joined Morgan in a carriage, where she kissed him and asked him to give Britain to her.

Ch. 14Gawain and Agravain

After returning to Camelot, Leon met Morgan's sons, Agravain and Gawain, and asked Morgan about her sister Artoria. He learned Merlin would have to be consulted if he wanted Artoria at his upcoming coronation.

  • Leon returned to the palace and heard a brief report on Camelot's affairs from his ministers.
  • Leon found Agravain and Gawain in his chambers and learned Morgan had brought them to meet him.
  • Leon teased the boys into calling him Father, then sent them to Luther while he spoke privately with Morgan.
  • Leon asked Morgan whether she and Artoria were sisters, and Morgan explained their different parentage.
  • Morgan told Leon to ask Merlin about Artoria, who had been hidden away, if he wanted her to attend his coronation.

Ch. 15Morgan: I Miss My Sister

Morgan supported Leon’s plan to summon Artoria, while Merlin worried that the former heir would be placed under watch and demanded a guarantee of her safety. As preparations for Leon’s coronation continued, Leon ordered ministers and every region to present thoughtful gifts, threatening death for disobedience.

  • Morgan backed Leon’s decision to summon Artoria, hoping he would suppress her half-sister.
  • Leon told Merlin to bring Artoria to court for Morgan and to attend his coronation, and he promised to keep her safe as long as she did not oppose him.
  • Merlin asked how Leon had recognized Artoria, but Leon refused to reveal that he knew from his previous life.
  • Merlin asked Luther about Leon’s past, but Luther claimed not to know and remained wary of Merlin.
  • Leon ordered every minister and region to contribute a thoughtful coronation gift, adding that anyone who disobeyed would die.

Ch. 16Knight of the Lake, You're the Challenger

Leon took Morgan on a date through Camelot, where they watched a celebrated Knight of the Lake win ten consecutive fights. The knight challenged Leon, who entered the arena and declared that the knight was the challenger.

  • Leon and Morgan discussed their wedding and went into Camelot disguised by Morgan's Magecraft.
  • Leon and Morgan explored the crowded festival streets while Joe and the guards followed them.
  • Leon and Morgan watched the Knight of the Lake defeat his tenth opponent and refuse his prize to challenge Leon.
  • Morgan encouraged Leon to accept the challenge, and Leon climbed into the arena.
  • A young, golden-haired person tossed Leon a sword, and Leon told the Knight of the Lake that he was the challenger.

Ch. 17Lancelot

Leon fought Lancelot in the arena, hiding his identity and overwhelming strength until his Magecraft disguise began to fail. He defeated Lancelot with a powerful strike that shattered his sword and left him trapped in a pit.

  • Leon and Lancelot stared each other down before Leon launched the first attack.
  • Lancelot dodged Leon's blows and countered skillfully, while realizing Leon had immense strength and a Magecraft-altered appearance.
  • Lancelot introduced himself, and Leon recognized him as the Knight of the Round Table he wanted to recruit.
  • As Leon's disguise began to break, he unleashed his full speed and strength against Lancelot.
  • Leon crushed Lancelot into the arena floor, snapping his iron sword and winning the fight.

Ch. 18Morgan and Artoria Meet

Leon defeated Lancelot in front of the Camelot crowd, then Morgan used his favor toward her to secure his pardon for the people who had insulted him. After Morgan urged Leon to thank the sword’s giver, he approached Artoria, leaving Morgan mortified to discover her sister had witnessed their affectionate exchange.

  • Leon defeated Lancelot with a single sword strike and revealed himself as king, causing the crowd to kneel in fear.
  • Morgan joined Leon on the platform, praised him, and secured his pardon for the subjects who had insulted him.
  • The crowd thanked Morgan for saving them, and she continued flattering Leon to keep him pleased.
  • Morgan reminded Leon to thank the person who had lent him a sword, and Leon led her over to Artoria.
  • Morgan froze when she realized Artoria had seen her behaving affectionately toward Leon.

Ch. 19Ceremony and Gifts

Leon became the rightful king of Britain after his ministers and people staged a forced abdication, then received Merlin’s divine sword, Excalibur. The ceremony ended with Wales’s rulers submitting to Leon and the Saxons presenting Vortigern’s severed head, which Merlin planned to destroy.

  • Luther, Morgan, Artoria, and the assembled ministers and commoners urged Leon to take the throne, and the ministers ultimately carried him to it when he continued to refuse.
  • Merlin presented Leon with Excalibur and its scabbard Avalon, and Leon accepted the sword, believing the Counter Forces approved of him.
  • Leon accepted the Welsh countries’ submission in exchange for tribute, surrendered royal titles, and heirs sent to Camelot.
  • Saxon envoys presented Vortigern’s severed head, and Leon agreed that Merlin could destroy Vortigern’s corpse and send his soul to Avalon.
  • Morgan asked Leon about his Three Refusals and Three Yieldings script, and Leon explained that it strengthened his claim by making him appear reluctant to rule.

Ch. 20Morgan's Gift

After his coronation, Leon received a handmade Mystic Code bracelet from Morgan and learned she was pregnant with his child. The next day, he announced the news to his court and pressed them to prepare their wedding, while wondering whether a Primarch could reproduce naturally.

  • Morgan gave Leon a Fairy-blessed bracelet and told him she was pregnant.
  • Leon spent the night celebrating the prospect of having his first child, while Merlin, Kay, and Artoria waited for him the next morning.
  • Merlin and Morgan sent Vortigern’s soul to Avalon, and Leon ordered his corpse burned and its ashes scattered at sea.
