Background / History

Xuan'an is the son of Grand Master of Ceremonies Xie Dongjun and ranks third among his generation in the Xie Family. He serves as a Palace Secretariat Drafter, responsible for organizing martial arts stored in the imperial armory. His assignment to Danfeng Prefecture was publicly framed as assistance in suppressing the rebellion, but the Xie Family also intended to establish influence there and build his prestige. 130

In Danfeng Prefecture, Xuan'an treated the turmoil as an opportunity to acquire the Heavy Martial Pavilion's improved pill recipe and gather people with Special Constitutions. He regarded such individuals as materials for refining medicine rather than as people. 132 136
