Old Tang becomes a mentor, guiding Mu Chen to obtain his first soul ring and later gifting him the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Heaven Skill and supplementary techniques 4. He also takes an active protective role: when Ice Empress sacrifices herself, Old Tang seals most of her power to prevent Mu Chen’s body from exploding 45.

The Ice Empress is one of the three great kings of the Far North. Mu Chen first draws her attention by using Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Marrow as bait, facing her without fear and offering her a choice: act as his guardian for ten years or sacrifice herself to help the Snow Empress recover 44. Despite initial tension and her underestimation of him, Ice Empress comes to reassess Mu Chen’s strength. Ultimately, she chooses sacrifice: she gives her life to heal Snow Empress and boost Mu Chen’s cultivation from Rank 49 to Rank 55, also granting him an Ice Jade Empress Scorpion Left Arm Bone 45.

However, after Ice Empress’s phantom appears and reveals her sacrifice, Snow Empress’s demeanor softens dramatically. She promises to protect Mu Chen, fulfilling Ice Empress’s wish, and after breaking through to seven hundred thousand years of cultivation, she plans to leave the Far North to stay by his side in the human world 46 48.

Mu Chen, in turn, shows respect and care for her—he provides her with the Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Marrow and later sends her to the Undead Half-Plane for safety 49.
