Background

Bei Bei first encounters Mu Chen in the Star Dou Great Forest while accompanying Tang Ya in search of her third soul ring. Initially cautious of the stranger, he shields Tang Ya behind him before accepting that Mu Chen had been guarding Huo Yuhao rather than threatening him. He then travels with Tang Ya, Mu Chen, and Huo Yuhao toward Shrek Academy. 10

As Tang Sect Vice Sect Master, Bei Bei protects the sect's members and supports Tang Ya's efforts to recruit Mu Chen. When Xu Sanshi threatens Tang Ya over Huo Yuhao's grilled-fish stall, Bei Bei immediately challenges him to an Arena duel; Mu Chen ultimately takes his place and wins the three Mysterious Water Pills at stake. 14 16

Tang Ya's sudden departure to avenge her parents devastates Bei Bei. Unable to find her, he struggles with guilt and doubts that he can manage the nearly defunct Tang Sect alone.
