A Sovereign Spark!
Although he had never seen a Sovereign Spark before, Ailin was utterly certain that this was one!
Though he had yet to visit a Divine Plane, he had indirectly saved a Plane Guardian and developed some rapport with them. Through the Plane Guardian, he had learned a fair amount about the Divine Planes.
He also knew that the Four Divine Beast Sovereigns were still alive. The era he was in was before the events of the original story, though he did not know exactly how long remained until that time.
But one thing was certain: this was absolutely not the era when heaven and earth had first formed.
Even the War of Faith had ended an unknown amount of time ago, and the Overgods had long since ceased caring about the spread of faith throughout the Material Planes. Otherwise, that Death High God could never have nearly completely controlled the Brinia Plane.
Yet there was actually an ownerless Sovereign Spark in this era? And it had just happened to be spat out from a spatial rift for him to pick up? If he had not experienced it himself, he would never have believed such a thing could happen. The odds of this were even lower than his transmigration.
Yet as he looked at the Sovereign Spark in his hand, it was undeniably real.
For a moment, every memory of the original novel from his previous life flashed through Ailin's mind. He immediately recalled the clearest record concerning the number of Sovereigns: when the Heavenly Realm achieved ten consecutive victories in the Plane Battlefield, a total of seventy-one Sovereigns had been recorded.
Among them, Linley had three Lord God Avatars, while the Lightning Sovereign had an additional Earth Sovereign Avatar.
Thus, seventy-four Sovereign Sparks had been refined.
Yet there were seventy-seven Sovereign Sparks in the world. Therefore, three Sovereign Sparks were considered "missing." It was possible that some Sovereigns had hidden Lord God Avatars, but it was also possible that those three Sovereign Sparks had never been refined.
Ailin suppressed the excitement in his heart.
He instantly concluded that the Sovereign Spark he had obtained was very likely one of those three "missing" Sovereign Sparks.
"Looks like this is a Sovereign Spark of the Death Law!"
Ailin could determine the attribute of the Sovereign Spark from its aura. As for its rank, however, that could not be judged from its appearance. Sovereign Sparks of any rank most likely looked the same. And even if there really were differences, Ailin would not know them.
No matter what rank this Sovereign Spark was, it was an immense stroke of fortune for Ailin.
"Unfortunately, it isn't a Water Sovereign Spark."
If he truly had the chance to choose a Sovereign Spark's attribute, Ailin would definitely choose a Water Sovereign Spark first. After all, his Water God Avatar was his strongest, and his talent in Water Law was also the best. If he could refine a Water Sovereign Spark, he might be able to rely on its assistance to attain Water Element Great Perfection.
But those were merely some unrealistic thoughts that had surfaced after he saw this Sovereign Spark. Opportunities like Sovereign Sparks were not things he could choose.
Being able to obtain a Sovereign Spark with the Death Attribute was already heaven-defying luck.
Moreover, all he felt now was gratitude for his luck. Had he not fought that Death High God back then, he might never have discovered that he possessed talent in cultivating the Death Law. If he had not had a Death God Avatar, or if the Sovereign Spark he had obtained carried an attribute he could not cultivate, then that would have been truly frustrating.
Now, even if it was not the Sovereign Spark most suited to him, it was still one that he had a chance to refine. He was already more than satisfied.
At that moment, he wished he could immediately refine the Sovereign Spark. Unfortunately, his Death God Avatar was only at the Mid-level God stage. Even if he wanted to refine it, he could not.
Stay calm!
Ailin forced himself to calm down. Get the Death God Avatar to the High-God stage as soon as possible!
This was Ailin's only thought now. As long as his Death God Avatar became a High-God, he could become a Sovereign! Once he became a Sovereign, with the Brinia Plane as his Material Plane homeland, he would be truly safe in the Coiling Dragon World!
At that moment, Ailin noticed that the spatial rift at the edge of the plane had completely vanished.
It seems the disturbance at the edge of the plane was caused by this Sovereign Spark.
This thought crossed Ailin's mind.
Suddenly, he thought of something else. In the original story, he had not existed. Could the one who refined this Sovereign Spark have been the Death Rule High God he had killed?
Based on Ailin's understanding of that fellow, even if he became a Sovereign, he would most likely not appear openly in the Divine Planes. It was entirely possible that he knew nothing about matters among the Sovereigns and thus missed the Heavenly Realm's ten consecutive victories in the Plane Battlefield.
Though he could not be certain, Ailin had a feeling that if he had not transmigrated here, that was likely what would have happened.
After forcibly calming himself down, Ailin took out a jewelry box from his Space Ring. He placed the Sovereign Spark inside, then carefully stored it back in the Space Ring.
He had obtained this Space Ring after killing that Death Rule High God.
Space Rings were commonplace in the Divine Planes, but they were still quite rare in Material Planes. Though there were some God-level experts in the Brinia Plane, not everyone possessed a Space Ring.
After confirming that there were no further changes nearby, Ailin returned to his island.
His Death God Avatar needed to enter seclusion!
In the blink of an eye, thirty years passed.
During those thirty years, Ailin's Death God Avatar had been unable to break through.
When he emerged from seclusion once more, Ailin could only sigh helplessly. By his previous estimation, his Death God Avatar had been merely one step away from the High-God stage. Breaking through should have been possible at any time.
Yet over the past thirty years, he had never been able to fully settle his mind and cultivate.
The Sovereign Spark's influence on him was simply too great. It was not something that could be completely dispelled just by telling himself to stay calm.
The effects of one's state of mind on cultivation were truly difficult to explain. From the perspective of laws and rules, one's state of mind had nothing to do with one's realm. Whether one's mentality was good or bad seemingly did not affect talent. Yet sometimes, the consequences of that influence seemed undeniably real.
"Ah, I should just let nature take its course. This kind of bitter cultivation in seclusion is meaningless now."
Ailin understood that his Death God Avatar's situation was not something that could be resolved through arduous cultivation. What he needed now was more of an "epiphany." His talent in the Death Law was far inferior to his talent in Water Law. In particular, cultivating laws of rules was inherently more obscure and difficult than cultivating elemental laws.
Ailin stood and looked out at the sea beyond the island, his mind deep in thought.
He had originally secluded himself here mainly to cultivate the Profound Mysteries of Water Law. Now that he wanted to focus on cultivating the Death Law, this place was of almost no help to him. Perhaps what he truly needed was experience in battle and slaughter.
True slaughter and battle existed in the Divine Planes. The Netherworld in particular could be called a holy land for lives cultivating the Death Law among the countless planes.
Besides, there were no opponents for him in the Brinia Plane.
Do I need to go to a Divine Plane?
Ailin pondered silently.
If he did not go to a Divine Plane, there was no telling when his Death God Avatar would attain an epiphany and break through. But if he went to a Divine Plane, leaving aside the dangers he might encounter, he would most likely be unable to return before becoming a Sovereign.
And even in a Divine Plane, he might not necessarily break through in a short time.
Just as Ailin was pondering, several enormous Grand Ships, each over a hundred meters long, suddenly appeared on the distant sea. The massive sails of the ships bore the emblem of the Duncan Family.
The Duncan Family was Ailin's family.
