Once Korin had brought Sun Yu and Lana back to his residence beneath the Lookout, Popo asked with a worried expression, "Is it really okay to teach them how to train?"
The old Guardian sighed helplessly. "I am the Guardian, so I can see the negative karma upon them. But in all honesty, I do not sense any evil energy from either of them. Perhaps if we guide them toward the path of righteousness, we can wash away their karma; that would be a virtuous deed in its own right!"
With that, the Guardian and Popo walked back into the Lookout.
Back at his own dwelling, Korin was eyeing Sun Yu and Lana with suspicion. "Although I am very reluctant, since it is the Guardian's order, I must comply. Tell me, you two aren't planning to conquer the world once you finish your training here, are you?"
"Heh, if we wanted to conquer the world, would we need to train?" Sun Yu teased truthfully.
"Exactly, you little weakling with a power level under two hundred!" Lana chimed in to support Sun Yu, seemingly settling the score for what had just happened.
"Darn it!" Stung by the pair, Korin slammed his staff against the ground, making a sharp clack-clack sound. He suddenly sneered and said, "Since you look down on me, I now demand that you, without using any ki..."
"Grab the bell in your hand, right?"
Sun Yu picked his nose with a smug look, interrupting Korin the cat as he was about to produce a bell.
"What the! How did you know that..."
Korin widened his eyes in astonishment, though it was a futile effort; after all, Korin's eyes were as much a point of contention as the height of a certain celebrity!
"I guessed. Haha, if it were just about grabbing the bell in your hand, that would be easier than eating a Big Mac in a second. So I assume your real goal is for us to wear bells ourselves and require us to snatch your bell without making a sound!" Sun Yu said, staring at the sweat-drenched Korin.
"You... you..."
Having his true intentions exposed by Sun Yu, Korin began to doubt his life—no, his cat-life—after all these years.
"Since... since you've already guessed it, let's begin!"
With no other choice now that his thoughts had been laid bare, Korin had to surrender, hoping he might find an opportunity to regain his dignity during the training.
"Who's going first?"
"I'll go first!"
Lana stepped forward. Sun Yu stepped aside nonchalantly, watching quietly as Lana took a bell and tied it to her waist.
Korin also tied a bell to his staff. He took a deep breath and said, "Begin!"
Because she was wearing heavy weighted gear, Lana's speed and precision were significantly hampered. Every time she looked as though she were about to snatch the bell from Korin's staff, she would accidentally cause her own bell to ring.
"Haha, what are you doing? Didn't you eat enough? Faster!"
Finding a rare chance to retaliate, Korin spared no effort in mocking her, relentlessly criticizing Lana.
"That's too much!"
Lana finally couldn't stand Korin's taunts any longer and immediately took off her two wristbands. The heavy wristbands hit the ground with two loud thuds, causing the floor to tremble.
"Ehh!!!" Korin let out a long cry of surprise. One second he was mercilessly mocking her, and the next, he was petrified by the sight before him.
After removing two pairs of heavy boots, Lana finally stopped. Although she was still wearing a heavy alloy-lead vest, she kept it on out of modesty, though considering Earth's gravity was one-tenth that of Planet Vegeta, it was clear this weight no longer posed a significant challenge to her.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, little kitty!"
After loosening her wrists and ankles, Lana's figure vanished in an instant. Korin instinctively moved his staff, but he was a step too late.
By the time Lana had snatched the bell from Korin's staff, the bell on her own waist finally rang out. Clearly, her movement had exceeded the speed of sound!
"Darn it, you cheated! You cheated! You're both monsters! You're bullying me!"
Korin lost his temper instantly, jumping around in place as if trying to leap up and strike Lana's knees.
Sun Yu listened to Korin and curled his lip. "What does that have to do with me? How did I bully you? Sister Lana, stop teasing him. You should put the weighted gear back on, otherwise, this training will be meaningless!"
"Mm."
Generally, Lana was willing to listen to reason. She quickly put the weighted gear back on, and Korin, now completely subdued, stopped his taunting. Lana focused intently on balancing her body, striving to perfectly harmonize her breathing and rhythm.
Within a day, Lana managed to snatch Korin's bell while wearing the weighted gear without triggering her own.
Mutaito, the greatest martial artist on Earth who had climbed Korin Tower, had spent three full years to snatch the bell, and the young Son Goku had taken three days. If one were to set aside the factor of power levels, Lana's talent for martial arts was arguably on par with theirs.
"Very good. Sister Lana, your ki is much more restrained and profound now, and you feel increasingly coordinated!" Sun Yu remarked with genuine admiration.
"Hehe, your big sister here is a genius mid-level warrior!" Lana said, patting Sun Yu's shoulder with a smug grin.
Korin brought out an earthen jar, fished out a Senzu Bean, and tossed it to Lana. "This is called a Senzu Bean. Eating it will quickly replenish your stamina; one bean is worth ten days of food!"
Sun Yu's eyes lit up. He thought to himself, So this is the legendary Senzu Bean! In the Dragon Ball anime, as long as you have a breath left, no matter how severe the injury, you can recover. This thing is a bug-tier existence second only to the wish-granting Shenron!
Unfortunately, because the production of Senzu Beans was low, and most of them were wasted by that idiot Yajirobe, the remaining supply was negligible. This led to Son Goku and the other Dragon Ball warriors falling into dire straits multiple times in later battles due to the lack of beans—it was enough to make one weep just thinking about it.
Crunch, crunch.
Lana quickly chewed and swallowed the Senzu Bean. In less than a breath, her stamina was fully restored. However, her face turned bright red, and after swaying a few times, her legs went weak and she collapsed.
"Sister Lana, what's wrong!"
Seeing Lana's strange reaction, Sun Yu rushed over, caught her in his arms, and called her name anxiously.
"Kael-chan~" Lana suddenly opened her arms and wrapped them around Sun Yu's neck, her lips brushing against his ear as she breathed out a fragrant scent.
"Damn it, you wretched cat, what did you feed my cousin! This Senzu Bean is definitely fake!"
