Putting aside the fact that the Red Ribbon Army was an evil organization, Commander Black was actually a good person!
For one thing, as one of the major players in the early days of the Dragon Ball world, Commander Black had never even considered wiping out the government forces and ruling the world. Given his military strength, he could easily have done so.
For another, it was true that Commander Black's underlings were a bunch of evil scoundrels, but most of them had been executed on his orders. Did that count as ridding the world of evil?
So, from another point of view, Commander Black, leader of the Red Ribbon Army, was a truly good person! He had one tiny dream: to grow to five foot three. That was all! And he worked day and night to make that dream come true, all the while eliminating quite a few dangerous people for the sake of the public! His hardships and struggles were too complicated to explain to outsiders. If someone wrote an inspirational novel about his story, it would be a guaranteed bestseller!
Thinking of this, Sun Yu really couldn't bring himself to kill him with his own hands. So he told the officers and soldiers present, "Actually, your Commander Black was gathering the Dragon Balls because he wanted to grow taller! As for conquering the world and all that... he could get to it when he had time!"
Silence. The entire crowd fell silent again. The only sound was Bulma smacking her lips as she licked her lollipop. Everyone looked toward Commander Black, and the atmosphere was downright bizarre.
"Commander, tell me this isn't true!" The veins on Adjutant Black's forehead bulged as he glared at Commander Black, hoping for the right answer.
"O-of course! I-I've never cared about my height..." Commander Black had lost all the bluster he'd shown earlier. He huddled off to one side, stammering out an excuse.
Somehow, Sun Yu had produced a lollipop of his own and was licking it. He couldn't resist pouring fuel on the fire. "Hey, you little black shorty. That explanation of yours just makes you look more guilty!"
Hearing Sun Yu's words, Commander Black immediately shrilled, "You're the shorty! Your whole family's short!"
Though Sun Yu was annoyed at being insulted like that, he decided not to argue with a man who was about to die.
At this point, Adjutant Black's face darkened. He drew his pistol and aimed it at Commander Black's head, then shouted to the crowd, "According to the Red Ribbon Army's regulations, conquering the world is the duty of every soldier. Anyone who violates this rule will be shown no mercy!"
"No mercy!" "No mercy!"
The soldiers, who had long been seething with anger, immediately roared in unison at Adjutant Black's instigation.
"P-please, don't kill me!" Commander Black no longer looked like a commander at all. He stared at Adjutant Black in terror, humbly begging him to spare his life.
But Adjutant Black wasn't moved in the slightest. He pulled the trigger. With a sharp bang, Commander Black's body tumbled helplessly down from the ***.
Adjutant Black looked coldly at Commander Black's corpse, an inscrutable sneer appearing at the corner of his mouth. Soon, he turned to the excited soldiers and announced, "An army can't go a single day without a commander. I may be unworthy, but I nominate myself to lead us. What do you all think?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire army roared Adjutant Black's name.
"Black!" "Black!" "Black!"...
Now the newly installed Commander Black smiled at Sun Yu and spoke down to him. "Mr. Sun, you truly are a hero among the young. Would you be interested in joining the Red Ribbon Army? If you agree, I can make you my deputy commander. Then the two of us can rule the world together."
"You'd been planning to kill Commander Black and take his place all along, hadn't you?" Sun Yu said casually, licking his lollipop.
A cold glint flashed in Black's eyes as Sun Yu exposed his intentions, but he quickly put on a smile again. "Haha, Mr. Sun, you're joking. Just hand over the Dragon Balls, and I'll give you half the world!"
Sun Yu looked up at Black and said flatly, "Thanks, but no thanks! I don't want half the world. I want all of you dead!"
The Red Ribbon Army had kidnapped Bulma, and they would pay in blood for it. Sun Yu was just that protective!
"Hmph, you refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit. Tao Pai Pai, kill him!" Black shouted angrily over his shoulder.
Then a man stepped out of a stretch limousine. His eyes were cold as lightning, and a thin mustache curled above his lip. He wore a pink cheongsam with the character for "kill" brushed across the chest. He was none other than the world's greatest assassin, Tao Pai Pai.
With Tao Pai Pai's arrival, Black regained his composure. Perhaps he believed that Tao Pai Pai could take down Sun Yu without a doubt. He looked at Sun Yu with pity in his eyes.
"Young man, your energy is calm and contained. You certainly seem to be no ordinary person! Too bad you ran into me..." Tao Pai Pai seemed to be praising Sun Yu, but really he was just showing off. He could sense that Sun Yu was extraordinary, so the vicious Tao Pai Pai was all the more determined to kill him before he could become a future rival. Of course, that was just what he thought.
"Three moves!" Tao Pai Pai held up four fingers. An attendant beside him shakily folded down the extra finger. Tao Pai Pai awkwardly cleared his throat. "I'll kill you in just three moves!"
Sun Yu smiled bashfully. "Why do I feel like it'll only take one?"
"You've got some sense after all!... Take this!" Tao Pai Pai sneered and, with dreams in his heart, launched a flying kick at Sun Yu.
Just as Tao Pai Pai was about to reach him, Sun Yu leisurely spat out the half-eaten lollipop in his mouth and casually jabbed it toward Tao Pai Pai's forehead.
Those movements might have seemed slow, but they happened in an instant. Tao Pai Pai didn't even have time to react before the unremarkable lollipop was embedded in his forehead.
The world's greatest assassin was dead!
Killed by a half-eaten lollipop!
Black and the others still had smiles frozen on their faces. They obviously couldn't accept something like this! A plastic lollipop had killed the world's greatest assassin. Who would believe that if they heard it?
But they had no choice. It had all happened right before their eyes!
Sun Yu looked at Tao Pai Pai, dead on the ground, and sighed. "What a waste. I hadn't finished eating it!"
Bulma looked up at Sun Yu cutely, then held out the lollipop in her hand. "You can have mine!"
Hearing this, Black and the others nearly burst into tears. They wondered how much a lollipop could cost. They'd paid a hundred million to hire Tao Pai Pai, and now he was dead just like that. What a huge loss!
"Hey, Black, do you have any secret weapons left? Bring them all out!" Sun Yu asked lazily with a yawn.
Sun Yu wasn't actually hanging around to play with them. He wanted to see the androids and other creations Dr. Gero had developed. The original story had alluded to some of them, but hadn't recorded them in detail. As a Saiyan with a warrior's love of battle, Sun Yu had naturally been looking forward to seeing the androids of this era. But it seemed that hope had come to nothing.
"N-no, Lord Sun!" Black's legs went weak with fright, and he fell to his knees. Even someone like Tao Pai Pai could be killed in an instant. No matter how stupid Black was, he knew that Sun Yu could easily kill him at such close range. So he smiled ingratiatingly. "Lord Sun, I'm willing to follow you! I'll work like an ox or a horse for you. If you want the world, I'll offer it to you..."
Though he said this, his hand reached for the pistol at his waist, planning to launch a sneak attack the moment Sun Yu let his guard down.
But Sun Yu didn't even look at him. He simply crouched down and gently pinched Bulma's cheek. "Bulma, do you want to see fireworks?"
"Yes! Yes! Big Brother Sun Yu, I want to see fireworks! I want to see fireworks!"
