Noticing that Sun Yu's expression had changed, Alanks and the bald man with the handlebar mustache both shrank their necks and exchanged a glance before asking quietly, "Sir, did we do something wrong?"
Sun Yu sighed and said mournfully, "When I said to cross their names off, I meant kicking them out of our squad. Why do you think about nothing but fighting every day? We're all Saiyans. We should love one another, understand? I'm talking to you—do you understand or not?"
The bald man with the handlebar mustache whom Sun Yu had pointed at immediately dropped to his knees with a thud. He was so anxious he was almost in tears. He truly couldn't understand what was going through the young man's mind. Sun Yu looked refined and harmless, yet he killed without batting an eye or showing the slightest emotion. Just when everyone thought he was cruel and violent, he told them they should love one another. What the hell—this wasn't how you were supposed to play this game!
"Yes, sir. We understand!"
Alanks was quick-witted. Whatever Sun Yu really thought, the right answer at that moment was to say they understood. Hearing him, the bald man with the handlebar mustache hurriedly kowtowed and apologized too, swearing he would never do it again.
"That's more like it." Sun Yu waved for the two men to return to their places, then paused, as if he had something to announce.
The more than twenty people gathered there immediately held their breath, listening to Sun Yu's next words with some nervousness.
Uncle Oli's courtyard was also crowded with neighbors who had come to watch.
"I'm sure you all already know..." Sun Yu's resonant voice echoed through Uncle Oli's living room.
"...I, Kael'thas, have taken over the remaining members of the former Rep Squad. To be honest, I don't care how strong you are right now. There will be no distinction between core and non-core members here. What I truly care about is your loyalty!"
"There may have been some misunderstandings before, which is why many of you were forced to come here. I want to apologize for that. If anyone doesn't want to join my squad, you can leave now. No one will lay a hand on you. I've made myself clear, and all the neighbors outside have heard me too. Anyone who wants to leave may do so. I won't stop you!"
Since Sun Yu had decided to build a force of his own, he had to make sure everyone followed him willingly. Loyalty would take time to prove, but for now, all he could do was send away those who were only pretending to be on his side.
Sun Yu's words set off a heated discussion among the crowd. After a while, a young man near the back finally worked up the courage to raise his hand. "Lord Kael, I have a question..."
Seeing that someone wanted to ask something, Sun Yu turned and smiled. "Go ahead. Ask whatever you like!"
Seeing that Sun Yu wasn't putting on airs, the young man grew bolder. He stood up straight and said, "Lord Kael, I'd like to know what kind of missions you'll assign us if we join your squad."
The other less powerful members wanted to ask the same thing. After joining the Rep Squad, they had always been treated as cannon fodder and often sent on suicide missions. Even if they were lucky enough to survive after completing a mission, they never got good resources, so their combat strength had barely improved.
Sun Yu understood their concerns. His expression turned serious as he said, "I know what you mean. Don't worry. I won't make you serve as cannon fodder like Lelton did. I'll provide you with plenty of cultivation resources. And if any of you have exceptional talent, I can even train you personally. I'm sure you already know what I'm capable of."
When Sun Yu said he would train them personally, Alanks and the others who had seen him tear through his enemies looked at him with burning eyes, as if he were a stunning beauty.
Those in the back hadn't experienced Sun Yu's strength firsthand, so they weren't especially excited about that. Still, since they wouldn't be used as cannon fodder and would have plenty of cultivation resources, joining Sun Yu's squad seemed like a fine idea.
A moment later, Sun Yu casually picked at his ear and asked the crowd, "No one wants to leave? Think it over carefully. If you dare betray me later, I'll reduce you to ashes!"
The words "reduce you to ashes" made everyone's hearts tremble, but still no one chose to leave.
"Good. In that case, I hereby announce that our squad is officially formed. As for the name..." Sun Yu furrowed his brow. "Let's call it the Urban Management Squad!"
"The... Urban Management Squad?"
Everyone stared in astonishment and asked, "Lord Kael, what does 'urban management' mean?"
It was no wonder the Saiyans didn't understand the term "urban management." It was a distinctly Chinese expression, after all. Sun Yu gave a sly smile and said solemnly, "The Urban Management Squad is no ordinary force. It comes from an ancient nation, and it's the ultimate goal of every warrior. They're the elite of the elite, the strongest of the strong. They shoulder the responsibility of revitalizing their people. A wise man once said, 'Give me three thousand urban managers, and I'll restore my vast heavenly kingdom!'"
Sun Yu's voice grew louder and louder, echoing through the hall. His words moved everyone. They thought of the Saiyans' current plight: their proud warrior race was now ruled by Frieza. They yearned to overthrow Frieza's rule and take charge of their own fate. Sun Yu's speech stirred the blood in their veins even more!
Every Saiyan admired strength. They longed to be strong, dreamed of becoming elite, and refused to be ruled by others. They wanted to become the mightiest urban managers!
Suddenly, someone at the front came to his senses and dropped to his knees with a thud, shouting, "We swear to follow Lord Kael to the death!"
His shout jolted everyone else out of their reverie. They, too, fell to their knees. "We swear to follow Lord Kael to the death!"
"We swear to follow Lord Kael to the death!"
Listening to their repeated shouts, Sun Yu suddenly froze. What's gotten into these people? I just made an offhand joke about urban managers back on Earth. Why are they acting like they've been pumped full of adrenaline? Are they crazy?
And so, the Urban Management Squad was founded on Planet Vegeta. Sun Yu appointed Uncle Oli as its captain, putting him in charge of the whole operation, and made Alanks his deputy, assisting Uncle Oli with management. Sun Yu told Alanks to take all the resources from the former Rep Squad and use them to train the members with the lowest combat strength. That single gesture moved the lower-ranked members to tears of gratitude. They wished they could lay down their lives for Sun Yu right then to prove their loyalty.
Sun Yu merely smiled. These people still needed to be tested. Only those who truly proved their loyalty to him would be taught the excellent principles he had learned on Earth.
