Preparing for an Expedition

Although Uncle Oli repeatedly declined the position of captain of the Urban Management Squad, saying his current strength was too low for such an important responsibility, Sun Yu was clearly the hands-off type. He was great at finding people to fight, but managing a squad was beyond him.

In the end, with no other choice, Uncle Oli finally agreed to become captain of the Urban Management Squad.

Over the next half month, following Sun Yu's instructions, Uncle Oli distributed the Weighted Gear Sun Yu had brought from Earth to the squad members who had performed well. He also gave them some pointers on their training, and many members of the Urban Management Squad saw their combat strength undergo dramatic changes during that time.

Of course, "dramatic" only applied to those squad members. Sun Yu didn't think a warrior's modest increase in combat strength over half a month was anything to celebrate. After all, people at different levels had different perspectives.

Sun Yu wasn't impressed by such a small increase in combat strength, but ordinary people felt differently. Many Saiyans in the area who knew Uncle Oli's family were eager to join the Urban Management Squad after seeing how quickly its members' strength had grown.

Sun Yu left recruitment entirely to Uncle Oli. The standard wasn't their current combat strength; recruits had to come from a clear background and show good potential before they could become reserve members.

One day, Sun Yu was instructing Uncle Oli in the Gravity Training Room he had brought from Earth when Alanks suddenly sent him a message:

"Lord Kael, a mid-level commander from Team C of the Frieza Force requests an audience. Will you receive him?"

Although Alanks and the others could clearly tell that Sun Yu was hostile toward Frieza, the visitor was still a mid-level commander in the Frieza Force. Refusing him outright could easily cause trouble, so they had no choice but to ask Sun Yu what he wanted to do.

"Damn it, I know this guy. He's the one who gave Lelton his mission. Kael, let's kick him out!" Uncle Oli said urgently after seeing what was happening outside on the Gravity Training Room's holographic screen.

"It's fine, Uncle Oli. Let's go see what he wants first." Sun Yu remained as calm as ever. Uncle Oli couldn't read his mind, so he followed him out of the Gravity Training Room.

They went into the living room. Alanks was bustling about, pouring tea and water, but Lana and Aunt Hill were nowhere to be seen. Needless to say, the mother and daughter were either out shopping, out shopping, or out shopping.

They said shopping was a natural talent of the female species. And after learning the art of bargaining from Mrs. Briefs, Lana and her mother had swept through the shopping streets of Planet Vegeta, leaving countless shopkeepers trembling at the mere mention of them.

The so-called mid-level commander from Team C of the Frieza Force sat arrogantly on the spacious sofa, flanked by two aliens with thick, brutish faces. He looked disdainfully at Sun Yu and Uncle Oli as they approached.

"So you're the Saiyan who killed that useless piece of trash, Lelton? You don't look all that strong!"

Uncle Oli and Alanks' eyes turned cold at those words. Sun Yu only smiled faintly and said nothing.

When the Frieza Force commander saw that Sun Yu hadn't gotten angry, he assumed Sun Yu was afraid of them and sneered even more contemptuously. "Don't think that just because you've put together some damn squad, you can do whatever you want. You'd better understand the position your Saiyans are in! I'm here to deliver Lord Frieza's orders. If you're smart, you'll know what to do!"

With that, the commander pulled a document from his robes and tossed it onto the table, his manner utterly arrogant. Uncle Oli and Alanks barely suppressed their anger. Veins bulged on their foreheads, and they wanted nothing more than to slap the commander to death.

Sun Yu patted them both on the shoulder and quietly advised them, "Why bother arguing with a lackey like this? It's beneath us."

Then he stepped forward, picked up the document from the table, and read it carefully.

It was a conscription order. Frieza planned to recruit a large army to attack a highly advanced technological planet on the edge of the northern reaches of the universe. The planet was called Planet Veblen. Its technology was at the forefront of the universe, and in recent years it had been dedicated to developing large combat robots.

Wasn't that basically a Gundam? Sun Yu was amused. He clearly remembered that no such planet existed in the original Dragon Ball story. It seemed Planet Veblen had been destroyed on Frieza's orders. That wasn't hard to understand. Frieza destroyed any civilization that might threaten his rule, just as he had destroyed Planet Vegeta to prevent the emergence of a Super Saiyan.

Sun Yu furrowed his brow as an idea came to him. As the saying went, the enemy of one's enemy was a friend. Perhaps he could use the opportunity to pretend to attack Planet Veblen and take a group of Saiyans away first. Since Frieza feared the planet's technological strength, Sun Yu could try to bring it under his control. Even if that didn't work, maintaining an alliance would be worthwhile.

After all, just over a year remained before Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta. If they didn't leave soon, they wouldn't have many opportunities left!

Besides, the planet lay on the edge of the northern reaches of the universe, countless light-years from the Frieza Force's headquarters. With the emperor so far away, Sun Yu thought this was a chance to survive.

"Fine, I understand. I'll gather my forces as soon as possible, according to the schedule in the document. If there's nothing else, you can get lost." Sun Yu looked at the arrogant commander without the slightest trace of subservience. The sight annoyed him.

But being annoyed didn't mean the commander could do anything to Sun Yu. If Sun Yu had disobeyed the order, he could have used that as an excuse to arrest Sun Yu and his people, then report what happened afterward. He personally thought that taking them down wouldn't be difficult. But in reality, Sun Yu was cooperating remarkably well, like someone who knew how to read the room, while his tone was still so insolent and dismissive. The commander was so furious he ground his teeth.

"Hmph. We'll see about that!" After leaving them with a more or less empty threat, the group departed.

"Summon all active members of the City Management Brigade to the conference hall. I have something important to announce!"

After Sun Yu said this, Uncle Oli and Alanks immediately looked at him in disbelief. "Kael, you're not really going to become Frieza's lackey, are you?"

"Of course not. You trust me that little?" Sun Yu grinned. "I have a bold plan. If it works, we could gain a powerful ally... I mean, hopefully this ally will be powerful!"

Uncle Oli had seen plenty in his time. His eyes lit up at that. "Kael, you mean..."

"Alanks, go get everyone. We'll discuss it in the meeting room!"

"Yes, Lord Kael!"
