Li had clearly sensed it the moment he struck: it felt as though he had not attacked the zombie at all, but had instead driven a vicious punch straight into the entire pyramid.
This fellow's power actually came from the whole pyramid. That was rather interesting. It also explained why he had been able to seal the pyramid entrance without releasing any magical fluctuations. Besides, this place had originally belonged to a powerful mummy lord. For this zombie to defeat that mummy even with the pyramid's enhancement, he was definitely no simple opponent.
Even now, Li had yet to figure out this fellow's true abilities. He could only make wild guesses. Layla glanced at Li. "So what do you suggest?"
Li shrugged. "What's there to fear? If he's tough, we'll just smash him to pieces."
Before his words had even faded, Li charged forward first. He lunged straight at the zombie, showing no mercy as he threw dozens of punches at its face in rapid succession. The zombie was just as unyielding, sending an equal number of punches crashing down at Li's body.
The zombie stood over two meters tall, while Li's constructed body was just under three meters. As they fought, they looked like two giants brawling. The other three besides Layla were also massive figures, so none of them found it surprising. Seeing Li charge in, they naturally followed. Layla's body flickered repeatedly as she darted beneath the zombie's abdomen, then shaped her hand like a spike and thrust it at the zombie's lower belly.
Yet the zombie made no move to evade, as though Layla's attack was no more than a scratch to him. When her right hand struck its abdomen, a burst of cracking sounds rang out—Layla's fingers shattered inch by inch.
A flicker of astonishment
