Itachi Uchiha's body twitched, but how could he possibly be a match for Mirai Uchiha? Mirai simply held his head down and ruffled it several times.
"All right, Teacher Fugaku, go entertain those people. I'll take Itachi and make sure he has a happy day." Mirai promptly ushered Fugaku out the door. Fugaku understood then that Mirai had plans of his own, so he said nothing further and left.
Looking at Itachi's expression, Mirai could tell that the boy did not seem to want to be with him. He understood Itachi's thoughts as well. The boy probably knew that his father had merely used him as a tool for an alliance. Since childhood, Fugaku had constantly drilled him, so his mind had likely matured far earlier than normal.
Mirai looked at Itachi's expression and sighed softly. "Itachi, I was about your age when I met your father."
Itachi froze for a moment and looked up at Mirai. Mirai knew that although Fugaku really had once been his teacher, the gap between their current strengths was simply too great. Even if Fugaku possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan, given their current disparity in strength, Mirai could kill him within five minutes.
Under such circumstances, if Fugaku still called himself Mirai's teacher, many people would probably laugh at him.
Mirai smiled. "Come with me." Itachi paused, but then followed Mirai outside. Mirai took him straight out of the clan grounds and into the bustling streets.
More than seventy percent of Konoha's residents had probably seen Mirai before. Seeing him walking down the street with a child, many people looked over. Some of the more prominent figures even came up to greet him and casually asked about the child's identity. Once they learned that he was Fugaku's son, they all understood.
