The monotonous days came to an end after a month. Following a long and arduous journey, the group finally made it through that damned forest. Itachi's expression was far from pleasant; after all, in his memory, even crossing the entire Land of Fire directly would not have taken this long.
So there was actually a place like this north of the Land of Snow.
What lay before them was a vast, snow-white ice field! It stretched flat and endless, as though its boundaries could not be seen at all. Itachi understood that although they had passed through that damned forest, they had not truly reached their destination. He did not believe Gesslia had gone through the trouble of coming all this way just to admire the scenery on an ice field.
Li still led the way at the front, but Itachi soon sensed that something was wrong. The moment he stepped onto the ice field, he felt a heavy hostility suddenly filling the air. It was as if it wanted to seize his throat directly, leaving him unable to breathe.
No one else looked well either. It seemed this was not an illusion.
Li immediately began chanting words that Itachi could not understand at all. Soon afterward, something translucent seemed to condense around them.
Li had actually been the first to sense that discomfort. The instant he stepped into this place, he realized that it had been tampered with. This place should have been the barrier between the mortal world and the world on the other side. That forest could hardly be considered something capable of blocking everything; after all, if a Kage-level expert forced their way through, forget forming a team—one person alone could probably reach this place.
But this ice field was different. The moment Li set foot
