Before long, Li met Zeref's teacher—Ankhseram. In truth, the Ankhseram Li saw... the being he had always imagined as a terrifying fiend, was utterly beyond his expectations.
When Li met Ankhseram, she was seated upon a lofty throne. That throne was so extravagantly grand that Li could hardly put a value on it. Following Zeref into the hall, he saw a platform nearly the height of a person at its far end, and atop it stood a throne made entirely of pure crystal.
In Li's estimation, that throne alone was worth the tax revenue of a small nation.
Then Li noticed his surroundings. Only then did he realize that the entire great hall had been built from blue, white, and black crystals embedded and piled together.
Li sensed it briefly, and his expression immediately changed. This entire hall was made of crystal—and not ordinary crystal, but magic crystal containing an immense amount of magical power!
Any random chunk chipped off from it would be enough to make powerhouses on the level of that headmaster fight desperately over it.
Li glanced around and involuntarily swallowed. But when he looked at Ankhseram, he was utterly stunned.
That's right, as I said before, Li was shocked when he saw Ankhseram.
In Li's mind, Ankhseram had been a vicious, terrifying existence. Yet in reality, she looked like nothing more than a girl of seventeen or eighteen. She sat upon the throne at the deepest end of the hall, her long black hair casually draped behind her. Her white gown exposed most of her shoulders and a large expanse of her chest to the air.
