Background / History

Minato and his wife, Kushina Uzumaki, adopted Uzumaki Chenhao before Kushina became pregnant with Naruto. They devoted considerable effort to raising and training him despite his earlier lack of talent, and Minato became both a father figure and Chenhao’s first Rasengan teacher 38 217.

As Fourth Hokage, Minato participated in the higher-ups’ plan to use a forest competition to identify young talent. After Chenhao’s team won, Minato offered them the reward of early entry into the Anbu; he later placed Chenhao and Chun Muzi under Kakashi Hatake, believing their potential and young age made Kakashi’s squad suitable for them 197 198 238.

During Kushina’s childbirth, Naruto was abducted from Minato’s arms. Minato immediately pursued the kidnapper, later drove away the Mysterious Masked Man, and returned to the battle against the Nine-Tails 328 331. He used the Flying Thunder God Technique to redirect the Nine-Tails’ Tailed Beast Bomb away from Konoha 333.

Minato and Kushina were saved from the Nine-Tails’ final attack by an unidentified masked Chenhao, whose Rasenshuriken severed the beast’s claws before they could be killed.
