"How dare you bite me!"
The bald man slapped Cuicui across the face with such force that her head snapped to the side.
Cuicui let out a muffled groan, her body collapsing limply as her eyes lost focus and her consciousness instantly blurred.
"Wouldn't it have been easier if you'd just been obedient from the start?"
The bald man sneered, reaching out to hoist Cuicui up over his shoulder like a sack of grain.
The bearded man stroked her face, grinning to reveal two rows of yellow teeth:
"Even though we didn't catch that brat, this little girl has such delicate skin, and she's a top student from the Public Middle School, so it's not a total loss."
Li Tong stood to the side, watching everything with an expressionless face.
His gaze lingered on Cuicui for a moment, a flicker of pity crossing his eyes, but he quickly looked away.
He fished a Hademen cigarette from his pocket, clamped it between his lips, struck a match to light it, and took a deep drag, exhaling the smoke through his nostrils.
"Let's get her into the car quickly; don't dawdle here."
The bald man bent down and tossed Cuicui onto the cart, the bearded man followed behind, and the three of them immediately headed toward the depths of the alley.
Soon, the group arrived at a narrow alley.
The alley was deep, with towering walls on both sides, leaving only a sliver of sky visible overhead.
They had only walked a dozen steps when the bald man, who was in the lead, suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" the bearded man asked.
The bald man didn't answer, his eyes locked onto the shadows at the end of the alley ahead.
A person was standing there.
In the gloom, only a vague silhouette was visible.
Not tall, rather thin.
The person stood there so quietly that if he hadn't glanced in that direction, he never would have noticed them.
The bald man narrowed his eyes and barked a sharp question.
"Who's there?"
No one answered.
The person remained standing, as if they hadn't heard him at all.
The bald man stepped toward the end of the alley, his pace neither fast nor slow, but each step was firm, ready to strike at any moment.
He had the foundation of Three-Sound Bone Crack and had spent seven or eight years in the Wild Wolf Gang; he had seen blood, and brawling was a daily occurrence for him.
He didn't think much of some half-grown youth.
"I'm talking to you, are you deaf?"
He stopped seven or eight meters away from the person.
By the dim light of the streetlamp, he saw that the person was wearing a faded blue-and-white school uniform, with a slender, somewhat thin frame.
He couldn't see the face clearly, only a pair of eyes that glinted with a cold, eerie light in the dimness.
A strange chill crept into the bald man's heart.
"Who the hell are you? Stop playing games!"
The bald man's voice rose a notch, and while he probed, his hand reached for the short blade at his waist.
Since the person wouldn't answer, they were clearly up to no good.
While remaining cautious, the bald man prepared to strike.
But just before he could make his move, the person finally shifted.
Instead of retreating, they reached into their jacket.
Before the bald man could see what they were pulling out, a handful of white powder exploded like a mist.
"Damn! Lime!"
The bald man shrieked, instinctively closing his eyes and turning his head.
But he was a split second too slow.
The fine white powder surged into his eyes, a searing, stinging pain erupting instantly as tears gushed out like a broken dam.
His vision blurred, and he couldn't see a thing.
"Fuck!"
The bald man roared, hacking his short blade wildly in front of him, the edge whistling sharply as it cut through the air.
But at that very moment, a fierce gust of wind struck from the side.
It was eerie, tricky, and cut in from a blind spot.
The bald man only had time to tilt his head slightly before a right fist slammed solidly into his temple.
"Bang!"
A dull thud exploded in the narrow alley.
The bald man's head jerked violently to the side; it was as if he had been struck by a sledgehammer, his body flying sideways to crash heavily against the wall.
His eyes remained open, but his pupils had already dilated.
The bald man's body slid down the wall, collapsing limply onto the ground, motionless and devoid of breath.
A fatal blow.
Fang Shuwen pulled back his fist and shook off the blood staining his knuckles.
His gaze drifted past the corpse of the bald man and landed on the two men behind him.
The bearded man's mouth hung open, his expression shifting from confusion to horror in less than a second.
It was simply too fast—so fast that he still hadn't recovered his senses.
"Wang... Brother Wang?"
"You, you killed Brother Wang! Do you know who his big brother is?"
His voice trembled, his eyes wide as copper bells, staring fixedly at the incoming figure as he tried to use words to distract him.
But his attempt was destined to fail.
Fang Shuwen turned a deaf ear, his figure lunging fiercely toward the bearded man.
His speed was astonishing; the bluestone slabs beneath his feet emitted dull thuds as the bricks shattered one by one.
The bearded man's pupils shrank, his instincts driving him to retreat as he scrambled to draw the dagger at his waist.
But Fang Shuwen was faster.
Three meters of distance, covered in a single breath.
Snake Fang Thrust.
The fist edge tore through the air, emitting a sharp sonic boom.
The bearded man didn't even have time to move before Fang Shuwen's fist slammed into him.
"Crack!"
The sound of bone fracturing was crisp and piercing.
The bearded man's left forearm bent at an unnatural angle, white bone shards piercing through his skin.
"Ah—!"
Before the scream could fully escape his throat, Fang Shuwen's second punch arrived.
This time it was his left fist, cutting in from the right to strike directly at the bearded man's temple.
The bearded man's right arm was still intact, and he raised it with all his might to block.
But Fang Shuwen's fist suddenly changed direction in mid-air, like a snake's head snapping, bypassing his arm to land solidly on the side of his neck.
"Bang!"
A dull thud exploded in the narrow alley.
The bearded man's eyes bulged, his mouth hanging open.
A garbled "he-he" sound escaped his throat, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't get the words out.
His body stiffened for a moment before he toppled straight forward.
From the moment Fang Shuwen struck to the death of both men, only a few breaths had passed.
The alley fell silent once more.
Fang Shuwen shook the blood from his hands and slowly turned around.
Li Tong was still standing where he had been.
His face was as pale as paper, his lips trembling, and the Hademen cigarette in his hand had burned down to his fingers without him even feeling it.
His gaze shifted slowly from the two corpses to Fang Shuwen's face.
His mouth opened, closed, and opened again.
"You... you are a master of Bright Force... don't come over here!"
Li Tong's face was filled with terror, drained of all color.
As he retreated, he begged frantically for mercy.
Soon, Li Tong backed into a corner, with nowhere left to run.
His face was as pale as paper, his lips trembling.
"Big brother, what good will it do you to kill me? The Wild Wolf Gang won't let you off. My bald brother is a hall master of the Wild Wolf Gang, a martial artist who has reached the peak of Bright Force!"
"You can't afford to provoke them. Spare my life, and I'll help you cover this up. They will never be able to track you down."
Fang Shuwen looked at him without a word, though his footsteps came to a halt.
Seeing this, a flicker of light, difficult to detect, flashed through Li Tong's eyes.
He slowly, bit by bit, lowered his body, his knees bending as if he were about to kneel.
"I still have money, I have a lot of money. As long as you let me go, I'll give you all of it..."
As he spoke, he used his body as cover to stealthily reach toward his waist.
"I really know I was wrong. Give me a chance, just one..."
"A chance? A person like you still wants to live?" Fang Shuwen's icy voice rang out.
Whether in his past life or this one, human traffickers were the things he loathed the most.
If he hadn't run into one, so be it, but since he had, there was no way he would let him go.
As the voice faded, that was the moment.
Li Tong suddenly smiled.
It was a sinister grin that seeped from his very bones, the release of something suppressed to the extreme.
His right hand whipped up from his side, the pitch-black muzzle of a gun aimed directly at Fang Shuwen's chest.
"Kid, remember in your next life: never give someone the chance to kneel and beg for mercy!"
"Even if you are a Bright Force martial artist, you can't stop a bullet!"
"Go to hell!"
