Overview

Soul Rings are attached to Soul Masters and are a primary measure of their talent and strength. Their age determines their color and influences the power of the soul skills they provide. Soul Rings are commonly obtained from Soul Beasts after the beast is killed, then guided into the Soul Master's body through soul power. 4 18

A Soul Master's number of rings reflects their cultivation stage; for example, Yu Mengdi becomes a five-ring Soul King after absorbing her fifth ring, then a six-ring Soul Emperor after acquiring her sixth. 51 100 101

Hunting and absorption

A Soul Beast's ring emerges after the beast is killed. The prospective recipient sits cross-legged and uses soul power to guide the ring into their body. The process can be strenuous when the ring's age exceeds the recipient's ordinary capacity. 18

• Tang Ya — absorbs a Thousand-Year Phoenix Tail Snake ring despite visible strain. 18
• Huo Yuhao — kills and absorbs the Hundred-Year Illusion Pupil Bird as his first ring. 19

Soul Beast sacrifice

A Soul Beast may voluntarily sacrifice itself to become a Soul Ring. Tian Meng, the Million-Year Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, chooses Shen Zhou's Heavenly Eye Martial Soul as its host to avoid Di Tian and seek a chance to benefit from Shen Zhou's future ascent. 20

Spirit Pagoda enhancement

The Spirit Pagoda can increase the age of existing Soul Rings through combat trials. Only three people may enter each day, and each entry can raise a ring toward the ten-thousand-year level. 4

• Qian Daoliu defeats a Ninety-Thousand-Year dark-attribute sub-dragon; one black ring advances to one hundred thousand years. 5
• Golden Crocodile Douluo upgrades one yellow ring to black and another to purple after defeating a Ten-Thousand-Year earth dragon. 5
• Guangling Douluo upgrades two yellow rings to deep purple, approaching ten thousand years. 5
• Xu Jiujiu completes four trials, changing her configuration from two yellow and two purple rings to four purple rings; two approach the ten-thousand-year threshold. 35 36

Effects on Soul Skills

Soul Rings grant or enhance soul skills according to the Soul Beast and the compatibility with the user's Martial Soul.

• Illusion Pupil Bird — its ring leans toward perception. 87
• Soul-Bewitching Butterfly — its ring favors control-type skills. 87
• Soul-Absorbing Bee — its ring strengthens mental attack. 87
• Spirit Light Fox — its ring supports mental-power recovery. Huo Yuhao gains a Mental Power Recovery skill from one. 87 90
• Phoenix Tail Snake — Tang Ya states that its ring grants one poison-type and one binding-type soul skill. 18
• Bright Tiger — Yu Mengdi gains Angel Assault after absorbing its ring. 51
• Radiant Lion / Light Lion — Yu Mengdi gains Light Domain, which increases her speed and light-attribute skill power while weakening enemies' resistance to light. 101

Higher ring age can directly amplify an existing soul skill. After Xu Jiujiu raises a ring from roughly five thousand to nearly ten thousand years, she estimates that the power of Star Fall rises from ten to at least fifteen. 36
