The battle raged through the night. Not many undead came charging across the drawbridge, and there were no powerful units like Abominations among them. The Elves' garrison troops were enough to hold them off, quickly cutting down and scattering the undead. Zul'ra Jin did not send his men into the fight.

Faced with the Elves' fierce resistance, the undead did not lose heart. They kept trying to rush across, until one quick-witted Elven warrior chopped through the drawbridge, cutting off their chance to storm in again.

When Lirath saw the drawbridge severed, his handsome face swiftly turned ashen. That bridge was the only proper route out of Goldenmist Village; everywhere else was either a dam or a treacherous mountain pass, all guarded by soldiers.

Though furious, Lirath had no time to pursue the matter. He arranged for the Elven Magisters to use magic to build another bridge, only to be opposed by Estelle, the chief of Goldenmist Village.

"Why rebuild that bridge? The undead can't get in now, so we're safe. And with the Sunwell unable to supply us with power, we don't have any spare energy to rebuild it," Estelle argued forcefully. Without a bridge, they could not get out—but that was a good thing. If they could not leave, neither could the undead enter.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but the undead will not be stopped by this river. Their main force is only heading for your capital at the moment. Once they have time to spare, crossing this river will take no more than an instant." Zul'ra Jin arrived at the bridgehead with two guards, looking at the unusually short figure among the Elves as he interrupted his foolish notion.

"But at the very—" Estelle looked up at the approaching Troll and involuntarily stepped back twice.
