Suffering a Setback
The air currents that had dissipated due to the Arcane Explosion in the Hillsbrad Foothills began to rapidly reverse and converge around Zul'ra as a long, howling sound like the wind rang out, crackling with electricity. 🍑 ⋆ 🍭 🎀 🎀 🍭 ⋆ 🍑
The Elves Undead watched as the Trolls summoned elemental power with a roar, its hands outstretched, fingers clenched, its bluish lips slightly parted, and a magic diagram woven from blue lines appeared in its palms—an inner triangle and an outer circle, with tiny blue runes adorning the geometric shapes.
As the Elves Undead's magic raged, the air temperature plummeted, and even his breath turned icy blue. Meanwhile, Zul'ra was surrounded by swirling arcs of electricity, both preparing to cast spells.
Zul'ra responded to the atmospheric elements, moving faster than the Elves Undead. After stopping her howl, she pointed her longsword and a bright bolt of lightning struck the Undead opposite her. In a single strike, the undead's magical shield shattered like a bubble. However, the undead quickly reacted and released an ice spike to retaliate.
The ice spike was three meters long, like a spear, cylindrical in shape with a triangular tip. It flew in, trailing a chilling white aura. Zul'ra brandished her longsword, and the atmospheric elements, under her command, transformed into countless streams of air that coiled around the Ice Lance. Using the force of the Ice Lance's spinning flight, they completely enveloped it, then tightened it, crushing it into ice fragments that fell to the ground.
Zul'ra had just shredded one Ice Lance when three more Ice Lance Ice Lance appeared in front of her, each three meters long and carrying a spinning, penetrating force, just like the previous one.
Facing the oncoming array of ice spears, Zul'ra swung her Forest Sword, which was empowered by elemental energy, unleashing streaks of azure crescent-shaped light that cleaved and shattered the incoming Ice Lance. Meanwhile, the Elves Undead seemed to transform into a machine gun turret, relentlessly unleashing its firepower.
The Ice Lance thrust forward, and the light blades flew. As the two collided, light mist sprayed out and ice shards flew everywhere. The sword energy released by Zul'ra was dispersed by the collision, but the ice shards that fell to the ground, some even landing on the back of Zul'ra's feet, spread and condensed rapidly without her noticing.
When Zul'ra and the others realized it, the insteps of their feet were completely frozen into a layer of ice, and the ice was climbing up to their knees at a visible speed. The Ice Lance on the other side did not stop; on the contrary, they seemed to be getting stronger. The firepower of that Elves Undead was terrifying.
"You can't beat me, Zul'ra Jin." Sensing Zul'ra's predicament, the Elves Undead spoke for the first time since the battle began. As he spoke, he cast a spell, causing a burst of water to rise on the ground to his left and right. The water condensed into a barely human-like figure, with wrist guards made of Water Elemental.
"It's not over yet, how do you know I can't beat you?" This was Zul'ra's first real fight against a mage, and she was somewhat surprised by the intensity of his attacks, but she didn't panic. She suddenly stopped her longsword, took a deep breath, and plunged the blade into the ice beneath her feet.
With a crack, the ice surface was pierced by the sword blade, and the atmospheric elements that were originally intertwined around Zul'ra's body, as the sword blade in his hand entered the ground, seemed to be detonated, suddenly expanding and exploding outward. The Ice Lance that was coming towards him was blocked by this force and paused slightly in the air.
In the brief moment that the incoming Ice Lance paused, Zul'ra used the blade of her sword to break the ice binding her feet and leaped to the side, avoiding the oncoming array of Ice Lance. However, upon landing, she was still struck in the face by an Ice Lance. In addition to the Ice Lance, there were also water balls thrown by the two Water Elemental.
Water is a liquid and not offensive, but the two Water Elemental sprayed water balls from their mouths like venomous snakes, carrying tremendous force. Zul'ra dared not let them hit her and could only keep dodging.
Zul'ra summoned elemental power to aid him, and his casting speed was faster than his opponent's, but he was not as good at dealing with the dense firepower. He could only keep dodging the Ice Lance and water balls. The obvious attacks were easy to resist, but the hidden ones were not so easy to defend against. The Ice Lance were one thing, but when the water balls missed and exploded on the ground, they inevitably splashed all over him.
Getting his clothes splashed with water wasn't a big deal, but as the battle progressed, Zul'ra felt a chill creep over him. Looking around, he saw that a large ice rink had formed beneath his feet, with white, frigid air spreading out and freezing his wet clothes into an icy shell that clung to his skin. Of course, it was cold.
The intense firepower and the ability to control the battlefield made Zul'ra's teeth itch with anger. This was definitely the favored son, and what could he possibly do in retaliation?
After gaining the upper hand, the Elves Undead stopped casting Ice Lance and instead used another spell. With the help of Water Elemental, he turned the ground within a radius of several hundred meters into an ice field. The chilling aura emanating from the ice blocks and water spheres enveloped the surroundings, and along with his magic, it began to surge on a large scale, forming Blizzard.
Even though the atmospheric elements were on Zul'ra's side, the cold winds surrounding him were constantly tearing at his skin, while hail and snowflakes condensed in the air were also hitting his body, gradually drawing out his body temperature. Not only was his body temperature dropping, but the melted hail and snowflakes were also re-condensing.
Soon, Zul'ra's clothes were completely frozen through. Strands of cold air kept seeping into his skin pores, like knives constantly cutting into his body. He didn't care yet, but if this continued, he would definitely be stuck here, either dying or suffering serious injuries.
Zul'ra immediately turned to run away, an idea popping into her mind, but she quickly dismissed it. There was no way she could escape now; the Blizzard was an area-of-effect spell. It wasn't a question of whether she could escape or not, because she couldn't afford to fight a war of attrition.
If they couldn't escape, then they had no choice but to do the opposite and take the initiative to attack the opponent. Zul'ra looked at the figure of the Undead Elves the wind and snow, but after thinking for a moment, she gave up the idea. Mages knew a lot of tricks, such as invisibility and clones. She couldn't afford to wear them down, but the opponent could.
"Oh, right." Zul'ra thought of the mage's little tricks and was slightly taken aback. If the opponent had tricks, didn't he have them too? He lacked spells to defeat the enemy, but he still had spells to escape. He had really been caught off guard!
Zul'ra resisted the urge to slap himself, raised his hand and cleaved the ice beneath his feet with his sword, cutting through the knee-deep ice to reveal the ground beneath. Then he jumped into the ground, the wet, hard ground like water, and he plunged headfirst into the earth.
The soil underground was damp and cold, so Zul'ra dared not linger. He moved underground like a fish swimming in water. Only after escaping the frozen area did he stick half of his body out of the ground. But seeing the cold wind and snow gradually gathering behind him, he had no choice but to burrow back into the ground.
Zul'ra followed the magical mark on Ge Gaoli's body underground, while above the ground, the Blizzard that had covered a radius of a hundred meters suddenly contracted, like a gray dragon baring its fangs and claws as it followed him, leaving behind only a mess of ice and snow.
Just ahead of the Blizzard and Zul'ra, Ge Gaoli and Anveena were frantically fleeing. The two were initially worried about the situation and wondered if they should go back to help Zul'ra, but when they saw the "gray dragon" in the distance, they were so frightened that they immediately turned and ran.
