Sudden Incident
Not to mention Anveena hugging Valeera, who had transformed into a rabbit, and Zul'ra trying to appease the suddenly angry Tarecgosa, on Sunstrider Isle northwest of Silvermoon City, the the Scourge's disguised tower was violently demolished by the Blood Knights, revealing an abyss entrance hundreds of meters in diameter.
"How deep is it down there, Malygos?" Halduron Mingwing peered into the bottomless abyss, pulled his neck back, and asked the mother dragon beside him.
"I don't know either. I only know that a considerable number of bone dragons and Undead are hidden below, which is why I sought help from Quel'Thalas." Malygos shook her head at Halduron Brightwing, expressing her request.
"The existence of this place, I believe, also poses a significant threat to your capital," Malygos said, noticing that the Sin'dorei were unwilling to take on this troublesome matter.
"... It is our honor to serve you." Halduron looked at the mother dragon who had been instructed by someone and couldn't help but smile wryly. He really didn't want to get involved in this matter, but given the current situation, he couldn't ignore it.
Sunstrider Isle is only a short distance from Silvermoon City. If the large number of monsters existing in the abyss below were to surge up and attack Silvermoon City, it would be a disaster.
After some thought, Halduron turned to Liadrin beside him and discussed the matter. Together, they formed a small team, led by the Blood Knights Mela Dawnblade, and prepared to search the Abyss based on the information previously provided by Malygos.
Before descending into the abyss, Halduron consulted with Malygos. The mother dragon, based on various considerations, also decided to help. Her goal was to find out what was happening below and to retrieve the corpses of those Undead bone dragons.
After making preparations, Halduron decided that the party would descend into the Abyss together with Malygos at dawn the next day. However, that very night, an unexpected message forced him to entrust the matter to Countess Liadrin and then hurriedly return to Sunfury Spire.
"This is betrayal, a betrayal. That dwarf from Aerie Peak, we treated them with the utmost sincerity, and this is how he treated us. And those two women from Stormwind and Kul Tiras, they left without even saying goodbye. They have a guilty conscience." Under the dome of the Sunfury Spire, Archmage Rommath's face was flushed.
"Master Rommath..." Vereesa's face was equally grim. Anvilward, the Dwarves from Aerie Peak, had been caught stealing from the Magic Temple, and at the same time, Countess Katrana Prestor of Stormwind and Lady Priscilla Ashvane of Kul Tiras had both disappeared without a trace, leaving her behind as Dalaran's representative. She felt betrayed.
"I've said it before, those humans are not to be trusted, including those hypocrites in Dalaran. They only remember us when they need us. When the prince and I were thrown into Violet Hold, not a single one of them spoke up for us." Rommath interrupted Vereesa and launched a fierce attack on Dalaran, making no attempt to hide his anger.
"Please calm down, Master Rommath. Our immediate priority should be figuring out how to handle the current situation," Lirath, watching Rommath angrily lash out at his sister. The Alliance's envoys had all left without knowing why; what was Quel'Thalas to do?
"No, something must have happened." Vereesa shook her head, finding it hard to accept, her blue eyes lowered.
"Can't accept the fact that you've been abandoned, Vereesa?" Rommath scoffed. Having suffered the humiliation of Dalaran, he was extremely displeased with Vereesa, who had returned to her homeland as a representative of Dalaran. If it weren't for Sylvanas and Lirath, he would have treated her like a traitor.
"The departure of the Alliance envoy has deprived us of our chance to maintain balance, and we will lose the possibility of neutrality!" Lor'themar sat on the stone seat beneath the throne, looking at Rommath who was mocking Vereesa, and raised his voice. Now was not the time to be angry.
"Then join the Horde!" A voice came from outside the Sunfury Spire as Lor'themar pondered. Vereesa, who had been feeling down, and Lirath, who had been hanging his head, both looked up.
"Sister..." Vereesa stared in astonishment at Sylvanas striding into the Sunfury Spire, finding it hard to believe that her once bright and beautiful sister had become like this, exuding an inhuman aura.
"If the Sin'dorei want to survive, join the Horde! I've already heard about it." Sylvanas didn't look at her sister, but simply repeated her words. Her series of plans had become completely meaningless after the departure of the two envoys from Stormwind and Kul Tiras, but she now had a new plan.
"Sylvanas, you..." Lor'themar couldn't help but stand up from her seat, the green light in her single eye becoming sharper than ever before. All the information about Silvermoon City was basically undetectable to the former Ranger-General.
"Lor'themar, don't look at me like that. I'm doing this for your own good." Sylvanas ignored her former lieutenant's anger, her expression remarkably calm.
"Send someone to Orgrimmar to negotiate with the Warchief, while you still have leverage to join the Horde, even if it's just to form an alliance, before that King of the Amani makes up his mind to stop you," Sylvanas suggested.
"No, how can we join the Horde?" Vereesa shook her head repeatedly, looking at her sister who wouldn't even glance at her. Quel'Thalas had once fought against the Horde against the Alliance; what would it look like if they joined the Horde now?
"Arrest her." Sylvanas looked at Vereesa, who had rejected her, and gestured to the guards behind her to arrest Vereesa.
"Enough, Sylvanas. You'd better not keep testing our limits and interfering in our affairs." Lor'themar was instantly enraged when he saw Sylvanas trying to grab someone in front of him, but his tone softened when he saw Sylvanas's icy blue face.
"What does it have to do with you that I captured my sister?" Sylvanas ignored Lor'themar's rage; such emotions were no match for her.
"But this is Sunfury Spire, not Undercity," Rommath couldn't help but say. Sylvanas was being too presumptuous, repeatedly interfering in Quel'Thalas ' affairs.
"Lirath, take your sister to the side hall." Lor'themar ordered Lirath to take Vereesa away, then strode up to Sylvanas and warned her in a deep voice.
"Don't treat us like pawns."
"..." Sylvanas looked at Lirath, who obeyed Lor'themar's every word and Vereesa away, then turned to look at Lor'themar in front of her.
"Then take a step forward and let me see you as a master, not a servant." Sylvanas looked at Lor'themar, and after his right eye avoided her gaze, she sized him up and spoke.
"The Alliance's envoys' sudden departure must have some reason, and we cannot rashly join the Horde because of this." Lor'themar was somewhat defiant in front of his former superior, but his bottom line would not waver.
"But if you miss the best time to enter the Horde, it won't be easy to get in later." Sylvanas scoffed. With so few people left, they still wanted to play both sides?
"King of the Amani?" Lor'themar asked, adopting a questioning tone.
"Or who do you think it is, me?"
"Why is he stopping us from joining the Horde?" Lor'themar asked, a mix of emotions swirling in his mind, with a hint of resentment.
"Stop asking such stupid questions, Lor'themar. His historical issues alone are enough to make him oppose us!"
"Don't use 'we,' you no longer consider yourself part of the Quel'dorei." Lor'themar was somewhat disgusted. This Sylvanas was no longer the superior who had died for her country; her use of "we" always carried an element of emotional manipulation.
"Hmph!" Sylvanas's eyes flickered, and she let out a snort from her throat, then said nothing more.
"I won't make this decision lightly, until the Alliance's attitude is clear." Lor'themar felt that her words were a bit harsh, but if she didn't say this, then Sylvanas's interference in Quel'Thalas would never end.
"Then you just wait!" Sylvanas's gaze hardened, and she turned and left, leaving behind only the dejected Lor'themar and the silent Rommath.
That's all for tonight.
