Singing
"Hehe, Bolvar, can you sing...•°¤*(¯`★´¯)*¤° °¤*(¯´★`¯)*¤°•." Zul'ra maintained a smile despite the disdainful looks from Shandris and Brann, but when she saw Bolvar's somewhat discouraged expression, she quickly asked after a moment's thought.
"Sing?" Bolvar looked puzzled.
"Yes! When you're in a bad mood, singing a song can cheer you up." Zul'ra nodded seriously. Bolvar was probably the most special among them. As a nobleman who lived a life of luxury, he was not only put in the position of commander-in-chief of the allied forces and questioned, but he also had to come here to be tested alone. It was normal for him to feel a little discouraged.
"Why aren't you singing?" Bolvar, somewhat displeased. Was he being treated like a stage actor?
"I'm just seeing you're unhappy! I'll sing, then you can sing after I'm done, okay?" Zul'ra maintained her optimistic attitude and persuaded Bolvar.
"Okay." Brann grinned as he made the decision for Bolvar, while Shandris wore a look of anticipation.
"Alright, I'll sing first. Let me think, what songs can I sing? I've got it! Let me pause for a moment and get into the mood, cough cough." Zul'ra thought about the songs she could cover and quickly found one. She cleared her throat, mentally translated the lyrics into Common, and tried to sing it out with the melody.
"Heh..." Just as Zul'ra was frowning and preparing to sing, Shandris couldn't help but laugh. It was the first time she had found this Trolls to be quite amusing.
Following Shandris, Brann couldn't help but smile, a smirk playing on his lips beneath his thick beard. Bolvar, no longer sullen, relaxed slightly, observing with a hint of interest as he observed the emotions brewing within him.
"Don't laugh, if you laugh, I won't be able to hold back either." Zul'ra saw that Shandris and Brann were about to laugh, and couldn't help but wave her hand at them, making them stop laughing and pretend to listen.
"Flowers, blooming and falling, blooming and falling, time is like a long river." Zul'ra barely managed to blend the tune in his heart using the Common, but after singing the first line, he couldn't help but want to complain. The Common was rubbish compared to Chinese. Although the rhyme and tone were right, when translated, it completely lacked the elegance and fluency. But it should be enough for the natives to hear.
"A myth is but a wave, a myth is but a tear. We are all in this gathering and scattering, and in this gathering and scattering, we are all just hurried passersby." Zul'ra barely managed to highlight the melody, rhythm, and emotion. History is like a river, and all people are just passersby, leaving only the legends of the gods behind.
"The sun rises and sets, rises and sets, time is like an ancient song, history is like bitter wine, and passion is like a milestone, calling to you, calling to me, our emotions are like a song." Zul'ra couldn't continue singing; she could keep up with the rhythm and melody at the beginning, but the rest was difficult to translate.
"Look, the vast history is shrouded in mist and clouds, where the hopes and entrustments of dreams drift. In the people's hymns, only the ethereal presence of the gods and their legends remain, the legends of the gods." Zul'ra simply abandoned the singing and instead ended the poem with a hymn.
"You're a good poet, but not a good singer," Bolvar said with a straight face after Zul'ra finished singing, a comment that sparked a smile from Shandris and Brann.
"Stop laughing..." Zul'ra's face darkened. He had intended to persuade Bolvar, but he hadn't expected to get himself involved. Faced with his dark expression, Shandris covered her mouth, but her shoulders trembled more violently, while Brann clutched his stomach and bent over, almost rolling on the sand. His exaggerated movements left the Gryphon Gryphindin completely bewildered.
"We'll have someone re-arrange the music another day. This poem is actually quite good. We should get going." Bolvar looked at Brann, who was laughing exaggeratedly, and smiled slightly as well, then solemnly told everyone to start their journey, saying they had rested enough.
"Bolvar, it's your turn." Shandris barely suppressed a laugh, looking at Bolvar with a serious expression, wanting him to keep his earlier promise.
"What? I don't know, Brann. Get up, we need to hurry. Sia looks like she's rested enough." Bolvar pretended to be clueless, tending to his mount Sia while urging Brann to get up and continue on his way.
"Come on, buddy, don't be shy. Our Trolls leader sang one, why don't you sing one too!" After standing up straight, Brann didn't rush off immediately, but instead chose to retaliate against Bolvar, just like Shandris.
"Alright, don't push Bolvar any further. He has a heavy burden on his shoulders." Zul'ra's black hair loosened as she looked at Bolvar, who was feigning ignorance and bewilderment. She spoke words of understanding, but her face was full of provocation, a strategy of retreating to advance.
"... Give me some time to build up my emotions." Bolvar stopped tending to his mount, looked at Zul'ra's "you're Imps if you don't sing" expression, and after a long silence, decided to ask for some time to cool down.
"No problem, calm down and let our commander build up his emotions." Zul'ra changed her provocative expression to one of schadenfreude, then waved her hand to suppress Shandris and Brann's anticipation.
"Let's sing as we go!" Bolvar mounted Sia's back, then, with his body bent high against the strong wind, squinted and uttered the first syllable.
"Having crossed the sea to Kalimdor, my life will either blossom or perish here, in defense of this world..."
To Zul'ra's surprise, Bolvar's singing skills and voice were excellent. Although the lyrics were simple, his melodious singing, carried on the wind, perfectly expressed his intention to fight to the death to protect the world, a fight to the death.
The four of them, some on horseback and some on foot, walked through the desert toward the distant mountains. After Bolvar's song that put Zul'ra to shame, Brann volunteered to sing a drinking song from Ironforge. The Dwarves's voice was rough, but it was cheerful and lively, and the song evoked images of cold beer and a roaring fireplace.
Everyone sang, and Shandris, feeling embarrassed, sang "The Highborne Lament," a song composed by the Highborne during the Burning Legion's invasion when they were forced to change their daily routines and fight in the daytime.
"Riding on the light, riding on the sun's rays, children of blood, the enemy is destroying everything in their path, children of blood, riding on the light, fall! Children of blood, they are destroying everything in their path..."
It was also in this song, "Highborne Lament," that the Elves first referred to themselves as the Sin'dorei, also known as the "Children of Blood." Therefore, this song is also the origin of Kael'thas changing his race from High Elves to Blood Elves.
The song drifted in the wind, and the relationship between the four people grew closer without them even realizing it.
