Strategic Department Meeting

Brann's matter was still a minor issue for the time being, and Zul'ra Jin dealt with it casually. The fact that the Scourge could not exist without the Lich King was the truly major issue. Tirion convened a Strategic Department meeting to inform the Alliance and Horde representatives of the news and discuss how to respond.

Although Tirion had found it difficult to accept at first that they could not immediately destroy the Lich King, as he thought it over, he realized the news was not entirely bad for the Argent Dawn. It meant the war against the Scourge would drag on, and the Judgment Army would continue to exist.

The continued existence of the Judgment Army meant the Argent Dawn could gain more of the world's attention and seize the initiative in the current situation. Though the Alliance and Horde were still living in peace, Tirion could see that this state of affairs would not last much longer. But if the Scourge remained and the Judgment Army endured, the Alliance and Horde would not come into major conflict.

Whether from the standpoint of the interests behind him or that of world peace, Tirion accepted that the Lich King could not be ended for the time being. The Alliance, however, found the matter far less acceptable.

"Are we supposed to keep bogged down here in the north?" Bolvar was full of shock and unable to accept it.

"I'm afraid so." Zul'ra Jin nodded calmly.

"No, that won't do. Stormwind cannot accept this. The troops we have mobilized and the military expenditures we have paid have nearly drained Stormwind dry, yet we have gained nothing on this land." Bolvar shook his head repeatedly, unable to accept the prospect of a prolonged war against the Scourge in Northrend.
