Thrall's body had been saved, but Deathwing had thoroughly screwed him over. His body had once fused with the power of the earth, his soul had been driven into another dimension, and his consciousness had been lost within illusions. Only by overcoming the trials within those illusions could he reclaim his soul.

Aggra, Taretha, and Sanra had been summoned to save Thrall's soul. Thrall's consciousness was currently undergoing four trials, each illusion representing one of his four negative emotions: doubt, desire, willfulness, and rage, corresponding respectively to earth, wind, water, and fire.

Thrall's doubt manifested in his worries for the world, but he had already safely overcome that weakness and passed through the illusion. The other three trials, however, remained far away, and he was stalled before the trial of desire.

As an Orc, Thrall craved bloody battle and the conquest of the world, though he normally did his best to restrain that weakness. Yet the illusion he now faced was Blackmoore, the man who had enslaved Orcs and caused Taretha's death.

Within the illusion, Thrall went mad and killed Blackmoore more than a dozen times, but his opponent repeatedly returned to life through Thrall's killing intent. Seeing that they could not resolve the matter, the Dragon Aspects had Kalecgos bring Taretha over and send her soul to Thrall's side to soothe his consciousness.

As a child, Thrall had been raised on Taretha's mother's milk, and Taretha had cared for him greatly. They were as close as siblings, so her comfort proved highly effective. The former Warchief extinguished his urge to kill, captured the illusory Blackmoore, and subjected him to legal judgment. The illusion naturally vanished.
