History

Gilneas withdrew from the Alliance of Lordaeron under King Genn Greymane. The Alliance's demands for support put pressure on Gilneas; Liam Greymane believes the Greymane Wall was intended to keep Gilneans from becoming a buffer between the Alliance and the Horde 1 24.

Four years before Liam meets Vailton Barov, the Barov Family sided with the Alliance after Alterac's betrayal. Working with an elven fleet from Silvermoon City, the family broke an orcish blockade of Lake Darrowmere and handed Alterac rebels over to the Alliance. The decision earned the Barovs Dalaran's forgiveness but made them enemies of the Syndicate, an organization formed from Alterac traitors 5.

Relationships

  • Kingdom of Lordaeron — The Alliance's dominant power in Liam's assessment. Lordaeron's king maintains orc prisoner-of-war camps, a policy Liam believes has alienated allies 1 5.
  • Kingdom of Gilneas — Former member whose withdrawal is tied to Genn Greymane's isolationist policy and the construction of the Greymane Wall 1 24.
  • Barov Family — Supported the Alliance against Alterac rebels, but subsequently lost large portions of its territory while living under Lordaeron's influence 5.
  • Syndicate — Composed of Alterac traitors handed over to the Alliance by the Barov Family; the Syndicate regards the family as an enemy 5.
