Background / History

Jaina studies magic in Dalaran under Antonidas, the leader of the Kirin Tor. Despite traveling there to study, she misses the sea and remains deeply attached to Kul Tiras. Antonidas treats her with notable patience and affection, while she becomes childlike and playful around him. 25 26

Before their public encounter in Lordaeron City, Jaina met Liam near the Lordaeron Internment Camp. She regularly watched the imprisoned orcs from outside the camp, brought supplies to vulnerable prisoners, and tried to understand how the defeated, lethargic captives before her could once have committed wartime atrocities. 22 Liam approached her while disguised as a guard, discussed Dalaran and Kel'Thuzad, then fled after stealing her shoes and leaving behind a rose. 23

Over a year later, Jaina recognized Liam in Lordaeron City and confronted him to recover her shoes. Her exchange with Liam was interrupted by Prince Arthas, whose hostility toward Liam escalated into a duel. The experience strengthened her resolve to help the people her kingdom had failed. 35 39
