Cleanup
"Sizzle!"
Shiro paused slightly as he prepared the Magecraft trick. He had received information from the Gray Snake, and at the same time, the poison had been almost fully applied. Naturally, the Magecraft he was preparing failed as a result.
But it's not a big deal; the cost wasn't high to begin with, and we can afford the damage.
Shiro quickly tidied up the damaged parts of the Magecraft runes, then donned the Invisible Cloak and set off.
The first target was a group of mountain bandits, composed of missing-nin. According to Gray Snake's assessment, the strongest among Chunin, and there were only two of them. The other three were Genin.
They are called mountain bandits because they mainly take on bounties, but when they rest, they also rob caravans or similar businesses.
But none of that matters. That's normal for ninjas. There aren't many truly righteous ninjas. Shiro is really curious about is how Gray Snake, a snake, managed to get all this information.
It's normal for it to acquire strength and numbers, but how did a snake manage to figure out its history?
If it were only one or two cases, it could be considered a coincidence, but if every single one of them is like this, then that's terrifying!
Unfortunately, Gray Snake remained tight-lipped on this matter, and no matter how Shiro tried to trick him, he couldn't get anything out of him.
When Shiro arrived at their location, they were still resting in a clearing in the forest, just as Gray Snake had reported.
Looking at the three resting men and the two on guard, Shiro narrowed his eyes. Under the cover of the Invisible Cloak, Shiro's Chakra began to flow slowly, and a faint white light flashed within the cloak-like Invisible Cloak.
Then, the Yew Bow and five arrows appeared in Shiro's hands. He first slowly took a few steps back, stuck the arrows in the ground, and then quickly drew the bow!
With a few swift "whoosh" sounds, Shiro fired his five arrows in two separate bursts!
He hit the two on guard and the three resting in succession! At the same time, Shiro whispered:
"Yew Bow!"
In an instant, before the five people hit could even react, they were turned into trees! (Screenshots from the animation will be posted in the image thread.)
Originally, after turning into a tree, it would immediately explode, but this effect did not occur under Shiro's control. It's perfect as it is now, with perfect concealment!
After dealing with them, Shiro disarmed the Yew Bow and then popped a few pills into his mouth.
Although the release of a D-rank Noble Phantasm is not a big burden, the sheer number of releases by Shiro —five releases in an instant—puts considerable pressure on Shiro.
Since his was a fake, the burden of liberation was much lighter. In addition, Shiro had become somewhat accustomed to this level of oppression. Although he would still get injured, his expression and state of mind would not be affected.
Furthermore, after numerous practical tests, Shiro's special medicine has proven to be very effective; it has already shown considerable results even after only a short time of consumption.
Of course, this is also related to the fact that Shiro's burden is not too heavy this time. However, even if it is relieved, he will not be able to use his Noble Phantasm in the next battle, so he needs to take a break.
Fortunately, Shiro is not bad in other aspects either. If he finds some easy targets, he can deal with them silently without any problem.
Therefore, Shiro's next target was a group of villains, the strongest of whom were only a few samurai, and the rest were all ordinary people who were stronger.
It's fair to say that they survived here entirely because of their numbers and the fact that they didn't provoke any ninjas; otherwise, they would have been dead long ago.
However, this also proves that the location Shiro chose was indeed remote, as few ninjas came here.
"Holy crap, still resting? These days, bad guys get such good treatment?" Shiro muttered to himself as he watched the group of villains having a banquet in the canyon from a distance.
Then Shiro shook his head, ignoring them, and went around to the back of them to begin setting up the Magecraft.
It doesn't need to be very strong; just enough to temporarily confuse them and trap them here is sufficient.
When Shiro returned to the valley entrance after setting up the Magecraft, they were still drinking and eating meat. Shiro shook his head again. It was a miracle that they had survived this long with such vigilance. However, this was irrelevant to Shiro. He slightly bent his body, blue patterns covered his limbs, and instantly rushed out!
He killed them both in an instant!
Furthermore, although the opponent realized what was happening when Shiro killed two people, the difference in strength was simply too great. No matter how many of them joined in, they were all instantly killed by Shiro in a single exchange!
What made them even more desperate was that no matter what they did, they couldn't escape; they would inexplicably run back each time. As a result, they gradually broke down in the face of Shiro's slaughter.
Some pleaded, some were angry, and some were trembling.
However, Shiro held nothing back, unleashing his Baji Quan to the fullest extent, turning every part of his body—shoulders, elbows, knees, wrists—into deadly weapons!
Before long, only corpses remained. Shiro wiped his hands as he scanned the valley, looking for any survivors or prisoners.
However, after taking a look, Shiro discovered that they didn't seem to have the habit of capturing prisoners, and they didn't even have a place to imprison them. Therefore, Shiro's idea of sneaking in to find some laborers was completely out of the question.
Fortunately, there's no one around, but at least we have money, right? Even if there isn't much left, it's better than nothing.
After quickly collecting his spoils, Shiro left the valley. He paused briefly at the entrance, took out a vial of blood from his sleeve, and used it to summon the snakes from the Ryūchi Cave.
"I'm leaving it to you." With that, Shiro left with a nonchalant expression.
And so, during the subsequent cleanup, when they encountered slightly stronger enemies, Shiro would Projection his Noble Phantasm to shoot them from a distance. For those who were numerous but weak, he would rush in for close combat and then let the snakes dispose of the corpses.
In this region, the stronger one is, the less likely they are to gather together; only those without strength will gather to protect themselves.
To be frank, none of the people here are good people, especially the stronger they are. Naturally, not many people will trust others.
Everyone worries about being stabbed in the back one day.
If you're weak, that's fine; everyone knows that not banding together means certain death. But for those who are strong, since I can survive on my own, why should I share any of the spoils with you?
Therefore, in the eyes of villains, everyone is suspicious, which in most cases saves their lives. However, it is precisely because of this that Shiro has the opportunity to defeat them one by one.
After Shiro finished clearing the area around the chosen site, he continued to complete the work that had been interrupted by the Gray Snake during the day. He set up a simple Magic Barrier around the site to drive away people and wild animals.
After that, he casually found a tree to lean against and rest. He planned to deal with the Workshop matters tomorrow. He had been fighting all day and had used his Noble Phantasm many times. Towards the end, Shiro didn't dare to use it anymore.
Of course, before going to sleep, Shiro also summoned the Blue Snake to take over the night watch.
