Ever since he was beaten like a volleyball by Emperor, Hogg had been on his best behavior. He holed up in his laboratory day and night, twenty-four hours a day, obsessively studying his insects.

The Magos, who had previously served as the volleyball net, was also dragged in by Hogg to help. They ate, slept, and lived in the lab; it was a miracle neither of them had died of overwork, given that neither was exactly an ordinary being.

After more than two months of effort, by reverse-engineering the manufacturing process of the Primarch and utilizing the Life Alchemy Hogg had learned from Emperor, the two of them actually succeeded in creating a Gene-insectoid.

Gazing at the ultimate creation resting in the incubation tank, the master and apprentice let out excited cheers. To them, this meant not only that the Blacklight Zerg would become even more powerful, but also that the secrets behind the creation of a Primarch had been unveiled.

Although the production cost was prohibitively expensive, once the prototype was finished, mass-producing the Gene-seed would be a minor issue. Furthermore, once the first was made, the second would follow; the Gene-seed would only continue to multiply.

Due to political considerations, Hogg did not follow his own aesthetic preferences this time, instead letting the Magos take full charge of the Primarch's appearance. Although Hogg stubbornly insisted that his own creations weren't ugly and that others simply lacked vision, he knew deep down that his own taste was a bit too avant-garde—and perhaps a little bit blasphemous.

While the experimental subject had yet to wake, the master and apprentice, exhausted from two months of labor, decided to have a proper feast. While drinking nutrient solution kept them alive, the taste was revolting; only real food could bring true happiness.
