Unlike the Ultramarines' stretcher-bearers, the Primarch's bodyguard of the Blackwatch had always been little more than decoration. As the Imperium's toughest bastard, Hogg had never needed anyone to protect him.

But times had changed. After taking a serious loss once, every member of the Blackwatch had refused to let their father go anywhere alone. The Primarch's bodyguard had returned to its original duties, following Hogg wherever he went.

He walked into the Imperial Palace and, needing no directions, made straight for the dungeon, as familiar with the place as ever. The Primarch's bodyguard behind him, however, was stopped at the entrance.

Hogg held Bane back before he could spout off, then ordered the others to stay where they were. If the Imperial Palace could still come under attack, there was nothing they could do to stop it anyway.

He pushed open the door, already prepared to find the Emperor half dead. But when he looked up, he saw the Yellow Weasel sprawled inside a Dreadnought, playing video games and cursing up a storm. The sight instantly killed Hogg's mood.

"Old man, what'd you call me here for?"

The Emperor hurriedly put down the Terminal and fell silent, staring fixedly at Hogg. His gaze made Hogg's skin crawl.

After several minutes, Hogg couldn't stand it anymore. He strode over, intending to teach the old man a lesson.

"Stop! I'm disabled right now. You can't treat me like this."

The Emperor's excuse didn't work. After hearing that spirited stream of curses just now, Hogg knew the old bastard was faking it again. He'd built that Dreadnought himself—who was he trying to fool?

Seeing that playing the victim wouldn't work, the Emperor got straight to the point and asked the question he'd been thinking about for a long time:
