Unlike Hogg's imagined torture and interrogation, the Darktide Squad wasn't beaten at all. In fact, they were treated surprisingly well.

And if the confession wasn't heartfelt enough, it got sent back. If it was written with too much feeling, it would be passed around among all the Necrons to serve as a warning.
