Lives were plunged into misery.

Screams rose and fell, and mangled remains of flesh and blood had been thrown everywhere. They drifted freely through the brilliant starry sky where no gravity existed. Unlike humans, the Angels' corpses were pure white as well.

In truth, they barely had anything that could be called a bodily structure. Beneath their perfect, enormous skins lay nothing but emptiness. Even those few ribs seemed out of place, and they had only one vital point. Aside from the energy core in their chests, they had no weaknesses.

But now, they had been forced to learn one thing, and it gave them, for the moment, something in common with humans.

Fear.

The Mage raised one hand. A deep, pitch-black radiance lit in his right palm, and intricate patterns took less than half a second to trace themselves into being.

At the sight of it, the Angels could only gather together, cutting sorry figures as they tried to merge their shields this way and withstand the terrifying attack to come.

But this had already happened many times. Every time, the Mage had turned the solution they had thought up into their burial ground, and this time was no exception. A blue Portal appeared beneath his feet and swallowed him instantly.

In the next instant, that black radiance had erupted among another distant cluster of Angels. Flesh was crushed into sludge, bones dissolved by energy in silent screams, while the energy cores that formed their centers were plucked out by the Mage with tendrils of psychic power.

This was their weakness. He had not needed to waste effort using power to destroy their forms. He could have attacked this vital point directly, but he could not.

His face was cold, and the anger in his heart had not lessened
