"So, you weren't planning to tell me what that thing actually was?"
Geralt and He Shenyan sat in Kaer Morhen's great hall. A chandelier of interwoven gold and silver hung from the ceiling, illuminating the entire hall.
Even the murals on the ceiling had been restored by the Mage.
He Shenyan held the green gem in his hand, staring at it blankly.
Geralt crouched on the floor before a bathtub containing a long strip of meat, pink and dark red mingling together. With a pipe he had somehow acquired clenched between his lips, the Witcher was processing the meat. His hands moved like those of a seasoned butcher, skinning it, removing the tendons, and separating the muscles without the slightest hesitation.
"Ah, trust me, Geralt. That thing has nothing to do with you or your world. So let's just skip over it."
He Shenyan said it casually. The gem was all he had left now. Ancient One's note had vanished into the wind after he finished reading it. And this gem, no matter how he looked at it, seemed to be nothing more than an ordinary gem.
There were no Magic Power fluctuations, no hidden passwords, no possible mechanisms. It really was just an ordinary green gem—at most, it could be sold for some money, though its already-cut shape meant it would not fetch much of a price.
"Tch."
He casually placed the gem on the table and rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration. Ancient One had always enjoyed giving him riddles. Heaven knew how much he hated people who spoke in riddles. And now, Ancient One had returned from the dead, crossed worlds, and still left him with a pile of riddles.
"Forget it."
Unable to figure it out, he decided to cast all those questions aside.
