Corax, bruised and battered, was thrown out of a Portal. He looked utterly miserable. Sanguinius, who had already been notified in advance, did not react too strongly. With a stern face, he walked over and helped Corax, this brother he had not seen in so long, to his feet.
The Mage's voice came from inside the Portal, his anger still not spent, and even carrying a slight tremor—from fury.
"Send him to the prepared Medical Pod."
"Yes, my lord," Sanguinius answered softly.
The Portal vanished. The Archangel sighed and gave Corax a sympathetic look.
The latter was covered in blood, both eyes swollen so badly he could not open them. More than that, he could not even walk on his own—his left ankle was bent off to one side at a bizarre angle.
Sanguinius supported him, moving with great care. At the same time, he asked in a low voice, "Corax, are you all right?"
The Lord of the Ravens gave no response at all to his question or his movements, as if he had been beaten senseless. But Sanguinius knew very well that Corax was nowhere near that fragile.
"All right, all right. You don't have to talk right now if you don't want to."
Sanguinius stopped trying to communicate with him. Instead, he supported Corax and helped him take a few steps, bringing him to the prepared Medical Pod.
Scarlet footprints left a trail across the silver-white room. A few minutes later, as the transparent hatch closed, the Archangel's expression gradually eased as well, no longer so tense.
He knew the Mage could not possibly have struck to kill, but no matter how one put it, Corax's appearance was absolutely horrifying. And because he had gone through two consecutive Teleports, he had inevitably been somewhat anxious. The moment
