"First," the Mage said slowly. "I want to know who came up with this conjecture."
Dorn nodded slowly. "I did."
"That truly exceeds my expectations."
The Mage's words made Dorn frown. "Am I truly so dull-witted in your eyes? I may be stubborn by nature, but I am certainly not—"
"You misunderstand me, Dorn. I simply thought that something involving occultism, something not very scientific or rational, should have been noticed first by my apprentice or Magnus."
He smiled, pointed casually, and a pale-blue Portal instantly appeared beneath Leman Russ's feet and swallowed him, astonishingly fast. The Fenrisian, however, burst out laughing as he fell from the ceiling of the Captain's Quarters the very next second, dropping straight into the middle of his brothers.
"That was fun!" Russ winked at the Mage. "When do we do it again? We can do it in the Warp, captain. You can throw me into the middle of a pack of Bloodthirsters!"
"No, we are not doing that. Damn it, how are you Fenrisians wired? Incidentally, you need a bath, Russ. Your smell is far too strong—what? Why are you looking at me like that? What else did you think I teleported you away for?"
The Mage's faintly disgusted words made the Wolf King's expression stiffen. In disbelief, he patted Vulkan, who had reached out to catch him, and the latter understood at once, immediately letting go so Russ could jump down.
He grabbed the furs on his body and, after sniffing them carefully for a while, failed to detect any odor. So he simply ignored the matter outright and treated it as one of the Mage's jokes.
