Someone slowly drew the blade out of a monster's chest. Etheric scraps of flesh and blood fell from the chainsword's monomolecular teeth, striking the ground with a nauseating, sticky sound.
The thing, almost a demon yet still retaining a human form, let out a shrill wail.
Its stubborn vitality kept it from dying, but starting from the places where the blade had touched its flesh, Golden Flames deliberately burned through its blood and meat with torturous slowness, turning that tenacious life force into an agony.
And the one responsible merely stared at it with a cold sneer, the face beneath the helmet naked with hatred. Traitors were often more hateful than demons, and all the more so when this thing had already been a blood-soaked piece of scum while it could still be called human.
He stood there the entire time, until it died.
Now, the lower levels of the Hive City had been shrouded by flames. Strangely, aside from a small number of houses, most buildings remained completely unharmed, while the people seemed unable to comprehend what they were facing.
The residents of the lower Hive City scattered and fled in every direction—apart from a small number who were truly innocent, most of them were followers of the Slaanesh cult.
The Heroic Spirits emerging from the flames naturally did not let them go. Driven by an extremely intense desire for vengeance, they swept the entire lower Hive City clean. But this was not the end. This Hive City named Leigen had rotted through with corruption from bottom to top.
Diseased tissue had to be excised, or it would only poison the parts that were still relatively intact.
