Background

Su Muyun belongs to the Su Family, one of the Twelve Great Families. Her father, Su Jian, had a life-and-death friendship with Ye Xiao's foster father, Ye Zhenghe; this connection led Su Jian to secure Ye Xiao's special-admission place and insist on honoring an arranged childhood engagement between their children. 36

The engagement places Su Muyun under intense family pressure. Su Family elders regard Ye Xiao's former E-rank Martialist status and lack of background as unsuitable, while viewing Su Muyun's talent as an asset to be used for the family's interests.
