Background
Ten years before Li Jinshui entered the Youth Training Camp, Huang Lichen worked at Flash Group Delivery's newly opened Yangliu Street station in Shuangliu District. He recalls that residential security stopped the riders roughly nine times per day, Drifter Gang members robbed them about eighteen times per day, and six of his brothers died within the station's first month. 23
By Li Jinshui's recruitment, Huang had become the Rong City Branch Camp's Deputy Camp Commander and the chief instructor responsible for Grade-A and Grade-B trainees. His instruction draws on both martial-arts knowledge and firsthand experience as a delivery rider. 21 32
Huang later joined Ye Mei, Zhang Li, and Chen Yu in a high-risk investment in Li Jinshui's cultivation, contributing resources despite the possibility that failure would cost him his position and savings. 33 Following the Shuanglong Street station incident, he was demoted and received a demerit. 50
Personality
Huang favors frankness and efficiency. During Li Jinshui's interview, he dismisses indirect questioning as a waste of time and directly confronts Li about the camp's investigation into his background. 21
He is skeptical but willing to revise his judgment when presented with proof. Huang initially doubts Li's claimed photographic memory, then personally tests it with an unfamiliar martial-art manual and comes to genuinely appreciate Li's talent. 27 28
Despite a gruff, easily exasperated manner, Huang is deeply invested in his trainees' safety and potential. He repeatedly advises Li against taking cultivation paths beyond his present capacity, provides private instruction, and intervenes personally when Captain Lin attempts to arrest Li. 30 52 55

Story Role / Major Arcs
Youth Training Camp Recruitment
Huang participates in Li Jinshui's Grade-A interview, revealing that the camp investigated whether Li was a Security Company mole. Though he considers Li a dangerous and unstable recruit, he chooses to retain him in the Youth Training Camp because of his potential. 21
He presents the Grade-A resource arrangement, encourages Li to become a King of Orders seed, and persuades him to learn Lightning Pulse Step by explaining its speed, efficiency, and connection to the higher-grade Aurora Pulse Step. 22 23
Testing Li Jinshui's Talent
After Li claims he can memorize the Lightning Pulse Step manual in a day, Huang offers two basic martial arts as a reward but demands proof. He acquires Lame Fist as a fresh test and is convinced when Li recites its entire manual after seeing it once. 26 27
Huang awards Li 80,000 yuan for the two martial arts and becomes increasingly convinced that he has discovered an exceptional talent. 28
The New Station Investment
When Weihu Security Company's blacklist leaves Li unable to join an existing Rong City delivery station, Huang meets with Ye Mei, Zhang Li, and Chen Yu to consider giving him an independent station instead. 29
Huang initially argues against Li's plan to pursue the demanding path of a Flawless Martial Artist, citing its extreme cost, but ultimately provides private lessons and helps secure resources for Li's growth. 30 33
He later helps assemble Li's station personnel and covert defensive support against the expected Drifter Gang attack. 37 38
Demotion and Supreme Delivery
After the fallout from the Shuanglong Street conflict, Huang receives a demerit and demotion. Rather than withdrawing, he contacts Li with a proposal to become rich together through a new delivery business. 50
Huang develops Supreme Delivery as a high-risk, high-value delivery service and later informs Li that the Supreme Delivery Squad has been established. 53 58
Notable Quotes
“I don't believe it. I believe that for those of us out here delivering food, life and death are decided by ourselves!” 23
“Young man, don't be too ambitious. Even if you really learned a seventh-grade lightness skill, your meager blood energy couldn't handle the consumption.” 23
Trivia
- Huang needed one month merely to learn how to guide electricity through his blood-qi circulation for Lightning Pulse Step, then nearly two more months to reach its entry level. Li Jinshui reaching entry level within one month shocks him. 28
- He briefly speculates that Li may be the reincarnation of the Martial Ancestor after witnessing his abnormal rate of cultivation, prompting the other leaders to regard him as absurd. 33
