Shui Bing'er sat at the edge of the tower's base.

With her back to the pine forest and her face toward the sea, the ocean breeze scattered her long hair behind her. A few strands fluttered in the wind, shimmering with a faint blue beneath the moonlight.

She had changed out of the worn blue cloth cloak she had worn on the road and into a plain white dress, perhaps prepared for her by some kind-hearted woman.

She did not turn around, but the instant he stepped onto the tower's base, her shoulders trembled slightly.
