Six months later.
In West City on Earth, people were going about their normal daily routines, commuting to work and bustling about.
"Hey! Look, what is that?" someone suddenly shouted, pointing at the sky, drawing countless gazes upward.
A spherical object, roughly the size of a basketball, streaked across the sky, leaving a long trail of exhaust in its wake.
"Is it a meteorite?" someone speculated.
"Doesn't look like it. Could it be some government satellite returning to Earth?"
High atop Korin Tower, the Guardian of Earth grew solemn. He sensed an exceptionally powerful ki, though it did not feel particularly malevolent.
"Guardian!" A panda-like figure appeared behind him, dressed in white pants and a maroon vest. This was Mr. Popo, the attendant to the Guardian of Earth.
Mr. Popo's combat power had always been a mystery; if one said he was strong, he had never truly defeated any major villains, yet if one said he was weak, even Trunks and Goten in their Super Saiyan forms could not inflict any effective, substantial damage upon him.
"Mr. Popo, go and bring Korin up here. A powerful ki has arrived on Earth, and I cannot tell if it brings fortune or disaster," the Guardian said, his face etched with deep wrinkles as he leaned on his strange staff.
"As you wish, Guardian!" With that, Mr. Popo summoned his magic carpet and descended down Korin Tower.
Far away on a small island, Master Roshi at Kame House was also staring in shock toward the direction of Karochi's ship.
"Whoa! That is one powerful ki." He had been busy reading some adult magazines, but the sudden, intense presence startled him, stripping away his lecherous expression and leaving only a look of gravity and focus.
At this moment, Karochi was completely unaware that he had already caught the attention of the Guardian and Master Roshi. Even if he had realized it, he wouldn't have cared; after all, his main purpose for coming to Earth was to seek out the Guardian for training.
He had only grasped the most superficial knowledge of ki, and to truly master it, he needed a proper teacher.
BOOM!
Karochi's spacecraft crashed into a desert. Stepping out of the hatch, Karochi was speechless. What kind of godforsaken place was this? There wasn't a village or shop in sight!
"In this godforsaken place, how am I supposed to find Dr. Brief?" Karochi gave a wry smile. He had three goals for coming to Earth.
First, to hand his spacecraft over to Dr. Brief—Bulma's father—for modifications, so it could feature a gravity chamber capable of over a hundred times Earth's gravity, just like the one Son Goku used in the original story, to facilitate his training. Future enemies would be ridiculously strong; without training, he would be forced to hide away on some desolate planet.
Second, to find the Guardian of Earth for ki training. Earthlings' research into ki was, needless to say, streets ahead of the Saiyans.
Third, and inevitably, Earth's gourmet food. With Dr. Brief's capsules, he planned to go on a wild shopping spree for Earth's delicacies! Money? Borrowing a "little bit" from Dr. Brief shouldn't be a problem, right?
Lifting his spacecraft, he flew toward the area where the numbers on his counter were more concentrated. Well, they were mostly numbers like 2, 1, and 3.
"Look... look! What is that kid carrying!? And he... he has a strange tail behind him."
"No, no! The real question is, why is he flying???"
"Yeah! How is he flying?"
After about half an hour, Karochi found a small city. This definitely wasn't West City, as West City was a massive metropolis, but the sight of a child carrying a spacecraft through the air still stunned the passersby.
Karochi slowly descended in front of a fashionably dressed man and, holding the spacecraft with one hand, asked, "Tell me, how do I get to the Capsule Corporation in West City?" The man, shrouded in the shadow of the ship, fell backward onto the ground!
He could clearly feel that if he were hit by the spherical object the child was holding, he would be finished. Hearing Karochi's question, he pointed tremblingly toward the northwest. "In... in that direction! Travel 3,000 kilometers and... and you... you will reach West City!"
Karochi frowned slightly. Over 3,000 kilometers—that was a bit far. Should he grab something to eat before heading out?
After a moment of thought, Karochi shook his head slightly, took off, and flew at full speed toward the northwest. A white aura enveloped his entire body, and within seconds, he vanished from everyone's sight.
He knew his arrival had certainly caught the Guardian's attention. If he let his appetite cause the other party to have a bias against him, it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, at his current speed, 3,000 kilometers wasn't actually that far; he could reach it in about two hours of full-speed flight.
Once he brought the spacecraft to Dr. Brief, surely he wouldn't have to worry about a full meal? He laughed to himself; he wasn't worried at all.
The Lookout!
Mr. Popo had already brought Korin the cat hermit up.
"Korin, you felt it too, didn't you?" the Guardian asked, looking down toward the world below.
The cat hermit moved to the Guardian's side, his expression one of shock, with cold sweat appearing on his feline face. "Yes, Guardian! I never expected such a powerful presence to arrive on Earth. I don't know if it is a blessing or a curse—meow!"
"The other party's ki is extremely intense. I am no match for him, and from what I can see, he is just a young child!" This was what frightened the Guardian the most.
It wasn't an adult, but a child. Although he looked very similar to an Earthling, that brown tail proved he was definitely not from Earth. That raised the question: if a young alien child possessed such power, how strong must their race be?
Korin's face was filled with terror, his already squinted eyes narrowing even further. "This... this can't be possible, right!? A mere child with such power? —meow."
Korin also realized the severity of the situation. He walked to the edge of the Lookout and used the Farsight Technique, a spell he used to observe the lower world. He quickly locked onto Karochi, who was flying at high speed. Just as the Guardian had said, he was indeed just a young child.
The Guardian nodded bitterly, confirming he wasn't joking. "The fortunate thing is that after entering the city, the child did not engage in any destruction or killing, and I haven't sensed any malice from his ki. That is the best news we have for now."
The opponent's ki was more than ten times stronger than his own! If the child decided to commit violence, there would be absolutely nothing he could do.
"That really is good news—meow!" He wiped the cold sweat from his cat head with his left paw.
"Huh!? I have a feeling I'm being watched!" While flying at high speed, Karochi frowned. The moment Korin used the Farsight Technique, Karochi sensed he was being observed.
But after a moment, he relaxed. On Earth, the only ones capable of such a feat were Korin, the Guardian, and Fortuneteller Baba.
Fortuneteller Baba spent most of her time in the afterlife and rarely returned to Earth, so it was almost certain that the Guardian and Korin were observing him.
After all, his sudden intrusion had caused quite a stir, and he hadn't bothered to suppress his ki, so being detected was only natural. He hadn't intended to be stealthy anyway.
Rubbing his empty stomach, Karochi increased his speed again. The feeling of hunger was truly unbearable. When he watched the anime, he thought it was ridiculous—what kind of stomach could a Saiyan have to eat that much?
Now, he finally understood. Eating an entire dinosaur in one sitting wasn't just bragging; it was a genuine necessity.
