Back then, even his older brother Cooler had never been so brazen with him. Now a little brat had punched him, and Frieza was absolutely furious.
Frieza shot Dodoria a cold glance.
Frieza's ruthlessness was no secret. He would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, and he cared deeply about maintaining his composure. If anyone saw him lose his temper, they were as good as dead!
Frieza's murderous gaze fell on him. Dodoria felt as if the world's most venomous snake had fixed its eyes on him. He trembled uncontrollably. He was done for!
Frieza raised an index finger and pointed it at Dodoria!
Killing intent filled the air. For a moment, the entire sky seemed to freeze.
"Hahaha! You trash really think you can attack Planet Vegeta?"
In his Great Ape form, King Vegeta threw back his head and laughed.
There were certainly plenty of aliens, but they couldn't inflict any fatal damage on the Great Apes.
Under the Great Apes' powerful attacks, the aliens' numbers dwindled by the second.
"Hahaha! Your men are useless, Frieza!"
King Vegeta raised a foot and crushed an alien as easily as an ant. Then he turned to his subordinates and said, "Come on! Let's go take down Frieza together!"
After wiping out some of the aliens, King Vegeta grew cocky in his Great Ape form. He felt that even Frieza was no match for him.
Five enormous figures erupted in white auras and shot into the sky. Their massive bodies blotted out the light overhead, plunging the ground into darkness!
The five Great Apes' white auras blazed around them. Streaks of white light tore across the sky as they sped toward the upper atmosphere, while King Vegeta searched all around for Frieza.
"There!"
King Vegeta spotted the largest spaceship, with Frieza floating in front of it.
"Boom!"
They accelerated again, charging toward Frieza with their massive bodies.
At that moment, Frieza was still pointing his index finger at Dodoria.
Dodoria, standing beside Frieza, was so terrified he nearly wet himself. When he saw King Vegeta and the others charging over, it was like seeing his savior. He was saved!
Sure enough, when Frieza saw King Vegeta coming, he lowered the finger he had pointed at Dodoria.
"King Vegeta!"
A gleam flashed in Frieza's eyes. That child had looked a lot like a Saiyan. Fine, he'd make the Saiyans pay for this.
"Frieza, most of your men are dead, and you still haven't lifted a finger. Don't tell me you're afraid of us! Hahahaha!"
King Vegeta looked over his subordinates and felt that, in his current state, he was invincible. That upstart Frieza had dared to invade the Saiyans. Unforgivable!
"King Vegeta, you're quite confident!" Frieza said coolly, his sharp gaze fixed on him.
Anyone familiar with Frieza knew that expression meant he was furious and about to get serious.
After all, he'd just been punched by a child who'd appeared out of nowhere. Anyone would be furious, let alone an emperor of the universe!
"Let's see whether you have the strength to back up that confidence."
Frieza used his Scouter to check their power levels.
"Beep! Beep! Beep!"
"80,000."
"95,000."
"120,000."
None of the Great Apes had a power level below 80,000. King Vegeta had the highest, at 120,000.
"Clap, clap, clap."
After checking their power levels, Frieza applauded. "I have to admit, you Saiyans really do have something going for you!"
"Regretting your invasion of Planet Vegeta? I'll tell you this: it's too late!" King Vegeta roared.
Then he turned to signal his subordinates.
The other four Saiyans got the order and charged at Frieza together, launching a fierce assault.
Vegeta had chosen to go toe-to-toe with Frieza. He couldn't have picked a surer way to die!
Sure enough!
"You're asking for death!"
The calm vanished from Frieza's face. He flew into a rage.
Energy like a star's core exploding erupted from within him.
An overwhelming aura swept into every corner of Planet Vegeta. The seas churned, fierce winds rose, and unpredictable, devastating typhoons tore across the planet. It was like the end of the world.
And this was only the aura Frieza had unleashed!
"What?"
As his aura surged, wave after wave of energy crashed outward. Even King Vegeta and the others couldn't withstand it. They were blown off their feet!
"Impossible!"
After being thrown back and sliding some distance, King Vegeta and the others hurriedly steadied themselves.
Fierce winds lashed across them, as if stripping away a layer of flesh. Their entire bodies throbbed with pain.
The Great Apes glanced at one another. Their blood-red eyes couldn't hide their fear, and they could see the same disbelief on each other's faces.
It was impossible. How could Frieza be so powerful?
If Frieza was truly this powerful, why had he always tolerated the Saiyans?
Couldn't he have slaughtered them all whenever he wanted?
The aura Frieza released left King Vegeta terrified, trembling with fear, and utterly shaken!
"No! Absolutely not!"
King Vegeta shook his head, still unable to believe Frieza could be this powerful.
"King Vegeta, surprised?"
Arcs of lightning flashed around Frieza as he appeared in front of King Vegeta in the blink of an eye. His purple-black lips parted slightly. He was once again his usual composed self, radiating the elegance he saw in himself!
King Vegeta and the others trembled all over, their fear laid bare in every shake of their massive bodies.
They had never seen Frieza reveal his power. They had assumed he wasn't very strong—at most, a little stronger than King Vegeta in his Great Ape form. Surely the five of them together could put up a fight.
"Too naive!"
"We were so naive!"
King Vegeta and the others regretted it. Wasn't it only natural for an emperor of the universe to possess extraordinary strength?
At last, King Vegeta woke from his delusions.
But it was a little too late.
"Hahaha! Weren't you so confident just now?"
Frieza sat in his hover pod again. Though he'd released several waves of energy, the pod had suffered no damage at all, thanks to the protection he'd deliberately maintained around it!
"Guess how high my power level is?"
Frieza regarded them with an amused expression. Before killing an enemy, seeing the fear on their face was one of life's greatest pleasures!
King Vegeta and his subordinates couldn't contain their terror. They wanted to say something, but Frieza's oppressive aura left them unable even to open their mouths.
"530,000. That's my power level."
"Hahaha!"
"Well?"
"Surprised?"
"Hahahaha!"
Frieza kept laughing. Seeing the fear on King Vegeta and the others eased the anger he'd felt moments earlier.
King Vegeta and his men backed away several steps, their eyes wide with shock.
Was the Frost Demon Race really this powerful?
Could a person actually reach that level?
King Vegeta and the others had never heard of anyone with a power level as high as 530,000. The strongest Saiyans could reach 100,000 only by transforming. That wasn't their normal power level.
"Enough. It's time for the show to end!"
Sitting in his hover pod, Frieza raised an index finger.
This was it!
Planet Vegeta was about to explode!
A marble-sized orange energy sphere appeared on Frieza's fingertip. As he slowly poured power into it, the pressure around them grew unstable, crackling and popping. Space seemed to bulge and burst outward, and in an instant the sphere swelled into a ball of energy roughly fifty meters across!
Planet Destroyer Bomb!
"Hahahaha!"
Frieza moved his finger, sending the enormous Planet Destroyer Bomb hurtling toward the planet beneath King Vegeta and the others.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Though the Planet Destroyer Bomb was enormous, it descended at considerable speed!
"No!"
King Vegeta snapped out of it, but the Planet Destroyer Bomb was already in front of them.
Faced with imminent danger, they pulled themselves out of their terror. Together with King Vegeta, they each gathered a blast!
The five blasts collided with the Planet Destroyer Bomb, but it was like ants trying to shake an elephant.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The collision sent the pressure soaring, producing a powerful current that swept outward in every direction from the energy sphere!
The fur on the Great Apes' heads was blown straight back, unable to stand up at all.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
Wild energy wrapped around them, making them cry out in agony.
Their combined blasts couldn't hold back Frieza's Planet Destroyer Bomb at all.
The Planet Destroyer Bomb closed in on the five Great Apes' faces. The intense heat burned their fur to ash, the scorching pain unbearable as they screamed!
"Ahhh!"
As the Planet Destroyer Bomb descended—
"No!"
King Vegeta stared at the enormous energy sphere as it came down. No matter how much strength he poured into resisting it, it made no difference. He glanced at his subordinates beside him. Their fur was burning as they screamed without pause.
At that final moment, a trace of resignation appeared in King Vegeta's unwilling eyes. Then he closed them, as if finally at peace.
"Vegeta!"
After those three words, the voices of King Vegeta and his four subordinates abruptly fell silent!
They melted.
Thus died the king of the Saiyans.
