In a forest in the northern part of Earth.
A towering spire stood there, reaching into the clouds.
Its walls were covered in ancient, weathered images.
The weathering on the tower showed that it had stood for a very long time.
Some said the tower had existed since Earth's ancient past; others claimed it had been built by an alien civilization. All kinds of rumors circulated on Earth, and nobody knew which were true.
At the top of the tower stood a catlike creature on two legs in front of three water jars.
There was something terribly incongruous about a cat walking upright.
This was the guardian cat of Korin Tower, known as Korin. It had lived for more than eight hundred years and mainly trained martial artists who climbed the tower.
Korin was drenched in sweat, as if it had seen something terrifying in the water jars.
"What is that energy? It's terrifying!"
Korin pulled a handkerchief from somewhere and wiped the sweat from its face.
Who were those two children, and where had they come from?
Korin was utterly baffled.
It had never seen anyone so terrifying on Earth. They had concealed their energy, but their crude attempt was absolutely disastrous. Anyone could tell at a glance that the two of them held tremendously powerful energy inside.
Korin guessed that if the energy inside those two children were unleashed, Earth itself might explode!
At the thought, a few more drops of cold sweat trickled down Korin's face.
If such powerful people decided to do evil, probably nobody could stop them.
Korin looked up at the sky again. Even the one above probably wouldn't be able to do anything.
Beyond the clouds.
Floating in the void above Korin Tower was a Lookout.
The Lookout was semicircular, with a small hollow underneath. It was colored white and red, and a staircase ran along the wall.
At the top of the staircase, the ground was paved with white bricks, and green plants grew all around. A walkway stretched ahead toward a large building. White mist drifted across the Lookout, giving it an air of mystery.
An elderly Namekian stood at the edge of the Lookout, accompanied by a coal-black figure dressed in traditional Indian clothing.
The coal-black figure was Mr. Popo.
The elderly Namekian was Earth's Kami.
He had fled from Planet Namek to Earth as a child. After enduring countless hardships, he had eventually become Earth's Kami.
In all those years, Earth had never been invaded by aliens. It had suffered only natural disasters and infighting among humans.
Now two little brats had suddenly appeared, each with explosive power inside. Kami couldn't help but feel alarmed.
He gazed anxiously at the world below.
Just like Korin, Kami had no idea where the two little ones had come from.
He looked at them as if they were two barrels of explosives. If they went off, they would destroy the world.
Even his other self, King Piccolo, would probably be forced to his knees on the spot!
If Kasso wreaked havoc on Earth, Kami truly wouldn't be able to do a thing.
Kami sighed. He could only hope they wouldn't cause trouble.
Down below.
Skyscrapers surrounded them, cars streamed along the roads, and high-tech gadgets were everywhere.
Ausbie walked down the street, captivated by the dazzling array of goods. Her curious expression made her look like a country girl visiting the city for the first time.
Holding Kasso's hand, Ausbie looked around. Whenever she spotted something delicious, she started drooling without even realizing it.
"Brother Kasso, look! Something yummy!"
"I'll take you to get some in a bit. Be patient."
Kasso patted her head and smiled helplessly.
Ausbie was just like Goku when he was little. Whenever he saw something tasty, he couldn't tear himself away.
At least she was obedient. She listened to whatever Kasso said.
Suddenly!
A commotion erupted up ahead.
"Move it!"
"Grab everything and then we're out of here!"
"Hurry, or the cops will show up!"
More than a dozen burly men in black stockings over their heads were ransacking a shop.
The gang's leader held a machine gun in one hand and frantically scooped capsule-shaped items out of the display case with the other. His underlings did the same.
The staff lay trembling on the floor, too afraid to stop them.
Kasso found the scene rather amusing.
He remembered that the anime had a beautiful female bandit who changed hairstyles whenever she sneezed, and her personality changed along with them.
She had quite a few scenes early on, but barely appeared later.
Kasso thought about it, but still couldn't remember her name. She was probably just a little kid at this point!
"All right, let's go!"
The gang's leader shouted, then led his men quickly out of the shop.
The bandits came rushing out in a group. The people nearby looked frightened and quickly moved aside to avoid getting caught up in it.
Kasso shook his head. Looking at the trash with a power level of only five, he finally understood Raditz's contempt.
He had no interest in such weaklings.
He'd look around a little more, then go find Dr. Briefs!
Just as Kasso was about to leave, he looked up and noticed the Capsule Corp logo on the shop.
"These pieces of trash are stealing Hoi-Poi Capsules?" Kasso grinned.
He'd been meaning to ask Dr. Briefs to help make a Gravity Chamber!
In that case, he might as well give Dr. Briefs a little welcome gift.
The bandits hurried to their car, ready to climb in and escape.
"Where's Brother Kasso?" Ausbie realized he was no longer beside her.
A flash of white streaked across the street, and a small figure appeared in front of the bandits in the blink of an eye.
Suddenly!
Kasso vanished again.
Thud!
More than a dozen bandits inexplicably hit the ground.
Their bizarre behavior made the bystanders run even farther away.
Kasso picked up the bulging bag from one of the bandits and opened it. It was full of Hoi-Poi Capsules. Those dozen little bags must have been worth quite a lot.
He waved to Little Biel in the distance, beckoning her over.
Ausbie trotted after Kasso into the shop.
"I got your Hoi-Poi Capsules back for you. There's something I'd like to discuss with Dr. Briefs."
Kasso had helped them recover their Hoi-Poi Capsules, so the person in charge of the shop was very grateful. They contacted the company headquarters and reported that someone wanted to visit Dr. Briefs.
When Dr. Briefs learned that one of his company's shops had been robbed, that someone had helped get the stolen goods back, and that the person wanted to meet him, he agreed to see him.
West City was the most prosperous place on Earth. The wealthiest people on the planet all lived there.
That day, two small figures stood outside the large Briefs estate.
