Hu Su's ability to foresee the future was pretty impressive. He knew exactly where Goku would land.
But had Kasso's arrival caused a butterfly effect? Would Goku still get this opportunity in the future?
Kasso lay in bed, thinking about a lot of things, though there was still plenty he couldn't figure out.
"Phew!"
Beside him, Ausbie slept with a soft sigh, her rosy lips parting and closing.
Kasso smiled and tucked Little Biel in. Who could resist such an adorable girl? He had to protect her and make sure she never got hurt!
It was getting late, so Kasso decided to get some rest. He still had to learn Instant Transmission tomorrow!
The next day.
"Hello, my name is Will. I'll be arranging your Instant Transmission training, so I hope we'll get along," said a young Yardratian.
"We hope we'll get along!"
Kasso and Ausbie returned his greeting with a bow!
Will led Kasso along a path. They passed one narrow walkway after another, and along the way they encountered many Yardratians. They varied in height, but all had pale purple skin.
They looked at the pair curiously. From their eyes, though, it seemed they already knew that two Saiyans had arrived.
They weren't particularly surprised. They simply stood to the side and watched with curiosity.
Will greeted them, then continued onward.
At last, they reached an entrance to a cave. It looked rather ancient, like some sort of relic from antiquity. Its weathered aura was almost as strong as that of the Egyptian pyramids!
Two guards stood at the entrance, both wearing Yardratian Battle Suits.
For anyone unfamiliar with Yardratian Battle Suits, think back to the scene where Goku returned to Earth from Yardrat. The outfit he wore then was this very kind of Battle Suit.
Kasso couldn't sense the two guards' battle power. Either they were far stronger than me, or they were ordinary people.
But they were guarding such an important place, so Kasso chose to believe the former.
Kasso's battle power hadn't increased much during his final days on Mumu Planet. The three months of space travel had helped him consolidate his strength, and now his battle power was 1,500. Ausbie's was 1,000.
That gave him an idea of just how powerful these two guards were. They must have at least 5,000 battle power.
With 5,000 battle power, you could pretty much roam freely across the universe in the early days of Dragon Ball, as long as you didn't pick a fight with some major power!
"Come, follow me." Will led the two of them through the cave entrance and into a passageway.
Inside, it was quiet, cold, and incredibly dark, as if vengeful spirits from hell were waiting up ahead to reap the souls of anyone who entered.
Suddenly, bonfires blazed to life on either side of the passage. Like beacons in the night, they guided people out of that silent, desolate wasteland and toward the light!
The fires illuminated the entire passage. Its walls were covered in murals, their images lifelike. They seemed to depict the ancient history of Yardrat, though Kasso couldn't understand any of them.
Stone bricks and blue-green murals bore the marks of time, filling the passage with a sense of age and wear!
At the end of the passage, they emerged into an open space, and the view suddenly widened.
It was a hall that resembled a secret chamber.
Many stone tablets stood inside. Each was etched with lines of varying depth. The lines came together in patterns that Kasso thought would make the tablets' contents clear, but instead they seemed even more illusory, as if a thick haze shrouded the inscriptions!
Will led them to one of the tablets and pointed to it. "This tablet records the method for learning Instant Transmission. A person can learn at most two secret arts here in their lifetime. You can choose another one for yourselves, but you'll need sufficient mental power."
Learning Instant Transmission required mental power, too?
What was mental power?
Kasso realized he'd been a little naive. He'd thought learning Instant Transmission would be simple, like learning a new kind of energy blast!
Will and the others hadn't considered the possibility that Kasso and Ausbie might fail to learn Instant Transmission. They were the saviors foretold by the wise one. Even if they were still children, perhaps learning two secret arts at once would be difficult, but learning one should be manageable.
After explaining how to understand the secret arts on the tablet, Will left.
All they had to do was focus their minds on the tablet. It contained detailed instructions.
"Hehe, I get it!"
Ausbie studied the tablet for a moment, then suddenly giggled!
What?
This little dummy gets it already? Is her talent really that incredible? Kasso was startled.
In truth, Ausbie was quite talented. She trained the same way Kasso did, yet she'd never fallen behind in battle power.
Kasso rubbed her head and said gently, "Then hurry up and figure it out!"
"Mm-hmm!" Ausbie nodded firmly.
Seeing Little Biel begin her training, Kasso said no more and immersed himself in the tablet's contents as well.
How was he supposed to focus his mind on it?
Kasso tried to concentrate fully, blocking out all distractions as he stared at the entire tablet.
Suddenly!
His thoughts were abruptly pulled inside, as if he had no way to resist.
Kasso's "mind" arrived in a world shrouded in mist.
It was dark and gloomy, with no paths at all. It was like the kind of dark forest in a fairy tale that devoured people. There was no way out, no guiding light!
In fairy tales, there was usually someone to lead the way through the dark forest. In this misty world, a white stream suddenly appeared. It gleamed like a little brook reflecting moonlight in the night.
I see. The lines etched on the tablet are this white stream, guiding the divine force in my heart. I have to follow it and carve those lines into my mind...
Half a year later, a little kid suddenly appeared out of thin air in a marketplace—and vanished in the blink of an eye!
"Phew!"
Kasso arrived at the top of a sheer cliff and let out a breath. He hadn't expected his mental power to be so strong. In less than half a year, he'd learned Instant Transmission and mastered it completely!
Was it because he'd merged with the soul that originally belonged to Kasso's body?
Kasso didn't know much about mental power or the soul. Never mind that—he'd learned Instant Transmission, so now he could see who could catch him!
Ausbie was still in the secret chamber, trying to understand Instant Transmission.
That didn't mean the girl lacked talent. Even Goku, a martial arts genius with a pure heart, had needed a year to learn it.
Little Biel probably needed another half a year to understand Instant Transmission!
Kasso sat down and thought for a while.
It was now Age 736.
In another half a year, Planet Vegeta would explode!
With his current strength, there was no way he could stand up to Frieza. He might not even be able to block a small energy blast from Frieza in his normal form!
Would the Saiyans still be wiped out?
Would events still follow the Dragon Ball storyline?
What should he do!
Right, the Dragon Balls!
Kasso had spent half a year in the secret chamber, nearly getting lost in the process of understanding the secret art. He'd only just remembered the Dragon Balls.
He estimated it wouldn't take long to get from here to Namek. He could definitely summon Shenron before Planet Vegeta exploded!
Since he'd never met any Namekians, he didn't know what their ki felt like, so he couldn't use Instant Transmission. He'd have to keep traveling by spaceship. Besides, the ship had Namek's space coordinates.
"Little Biel, study Instant Transmission on Yardrat. Leave the future of the Saiyan people to me!" Kasso muttered.
Once he'd decided to head to Namek, Kasso got moving. First, he notified Supar and Hu Su. They replied that he should go without worry.
He found the spaceship.
Kasso stood in front of it and glanced back at the distant town.
Little Biel, wait here for me, okay?
Then he boarded the spaceship he'd arrived in and shot into the sky, heading for Namek!
