Background / History
Tang Ya is the sole successor of the Tang Sect. After the sect's decline, the Iron Blood Sect occupied the Tang Sect's former Tiantou City site and killed her parents and elders; Tang Ya was the only survivor to escape. She retained the Tang Sect inheritance and its Blue Silver Grass martial soul while carrying a lasting desire to avenge her family. 17 91
At Shrek Academy, she acted as Huo Yuhao's senior and protector. When he was injured after his conflict with Chu Feng, Tang Ya immediately rushed to the infirmary, demanded to know who had harmed him, and offered to seek justice on behalf of the Tang Sect. 12 She later confronted Chu Feng over Huo Yuhao's injuries and dormitory dispute, insisting that he apologize. 17 51
Chu Feng privately used Thousand Illusions to provoke Tang Ya's grief and resentment over her parents' deaths, casting doubt on Bei Bei, Shrek Academy, and the purpose of rebuilding the Tang Sect. He suppressed her Dark Blue Silver Grass when it began to react, then promised to help her take revenge in exchange for future assistance; Tang Ya accepted the agreement. 51 52
Tang Ya subsequently abandoned her goal of restoring the Tang Sect, identifying vengeance for her parents as her true priority. She withdrew from Shrek Academy so that her actions would not implicate it, then traveled with Chu Feng to Tiantou City. 90 91 During the assault on the Iron Blood Sect, she killed Tie Tang—the man she witnessed murder her mother—by binding and crushing him with Blue Silver Grass. 91 92 After the sect's destruction, she emerged grieving, bloodstained, and directionless. 93
In this vulnerable state, Tang Ya was hypnotized by Chu Feng. He rewrote her memories, removed major emotional anchors, and made her emotionally dependent on him. She thereafter addressed him as “Master” and became completely devoted to carrying out his orders. 94 95
Appearance
Tang Ya is a beautiful young woman with fair skin, an oval face, and a graceful figure. Her hairstyle is depicted as long black hair in a ponytail during her first confrontation with Chu Feng, and later as high twin tails while at Shrek Academy. 17 90
- Large, lively phoenix eyes and a high-bridged nose. 17
- Often wears a light-blue fitted outfit during her early Shrek Academy appearances. 17
- Wears a simple black dress when preparing to leave Shrek and pursue vengeance. 90
- Her eyes can show a dark or crimson coloration when her Dark Blue Silver Grass and killing intent surface. 51 108 127
Personality
Tang Ya is initially impulsive, stubborn, and fiercely protective of those she considers Tang Sect members. She is quick to anger when she believes someone has bullied the weak, as shown by her defense of Huo Yuhao and her repeated demands that Chu Feng apologize. 12 17 51
Her unresolved grief over the destruction of her family and sect makes her intensely revenge-driven. Once Chu Feng directs her attention toward the Iron Blood Sect, she abandons rebuilding the Tang Sect and is willing to leave Shrek Academy to pursue vengeance alone. 90
After Chu Feng's hypnosis, Tang Ya becomes affectionate, obedient, and highly reliant on his approval. She nevertheless shows initiative in Soul Hall affairs, enduring outside pressure rather than escalating problems recklessly and efficiently organizing its Soul Tool education program. 95 103 126
