Background / History

Yu Xiaogang grew up as the highly praised son of Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family leader Yu Yuanzhen. Elders and peers expected him to awaken an exceptional martial soul and eventually succeed his father as clan leader. He shared that expectation, entering his awakening ceremony convinced he would receive the purest Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon and Innate Full Soul Power 1 2.

Instead, he awakened the mutated Pig-Dog Martial Soul with Innate Soul Power of only 0.5. The humiliation was intensified by the clan's laughter, while Yu Yuanzhen reacted with anger and disappointment. Yu Xiaogang immediately became hostile toward Yu Hong after Yu Hong mocked his failure, challenging him to a fight and losing despite Yu Hong using only the White Stone of the Ancients 2 3.

The clan established a six-year arrangement in which Yu Xiaogang and Yu Hong would receive cultivation resources before competing for continued support. Yu Yuanzhen secretly promised Yu Xiaogang additional resources and urged him to reclaim his lost dignity by defeating Yu Hong 4 5.

Appearance

At age twelve, Yu Xiaogang is described as a somewhat sturdy youth. His appearance contrasts with Yu Hong's more composed and sharp presence during their six-year pact duel 25.

Pig-Dog Martial Soul / Luo Sanpao

  • A pale-purple creature resembling a cross between a dog and a pig. 2 16
  • Has a round body, short thick legs, floppy ears, deep-blue eyes, and a bump on its head. 2
  • Measures more than one and a half meters in both length and girth. 2
  • Is commonly called Luo Sanpao. 6 16

Personality

Yu Xiaogang is proud, status-conscious, and accustomed to being treated as the clan leader's heir. Before his awakening, he looked down on Yu Hong as worthless and considered equal resource allocation beneath him 1 5.

His failed awakening turns that pride into resentment and obsession. Yu Hong's successes repeatedly provoke him into rage, destructive outbursts, and reckless attempts to prove he is superior. Rather than accepting responsibility for his failed 650-year spirit-ring absorption, he blames the soul-hunting team for not ensuring his success 9 11 15.

He can show determination when pressured: Yu Yuanzhen's rebuke drives him to train rigorously for a month and reach level 10. However, his discipline is inconsistent, and he repeatedly returns to arrogance once he gains even a small advantage 10 15 16.
