His armor was covered in blood, belonging to Trinity mercenaries, Quetzalcoatl Cult members, and Yaaxil. When he entered the cave, the Yaaxil were engaged in an asymmetric battle against the former two groups. Supiluliumas had single-handedly brought the chaotic fight to a complete end, driving all three parties out of the cave. Had he failed, the Gene-modded Warriors attacking this location would have followed the plan and flooded the cave with various poisonous gases, efficiently killing everyone inside.
"You were too slow, Supiluliumas." Praetorian Guard Commander Constantine looked at his colleague sternly.
Supiluliumas paid no attention to the criticism, believing his actions had been entirely justified and reasonable. The Praetorian Guard Commander did not press the matter further. Every Praetorian Guard had a radically different style of operation, and judging who was right or wrong among them was something only the Emperor and their commander could do. But he would not exercise that authority at this time. Only after an investigation confirmed that Supiluliumas had indeed made an oversight would the commander issue an order for him to correct it.
"How is the contamination?" Constantine asked, removing his helmet. "Is large-scale extermination necessary?"
This was a valley similar to the mountain ravine occupied by the tribal warriors, filled with ancient, primitive man-made structures. Murals and statues praising ancient false gods had stood in orderly rows atop raised platforms, only to be destroyed by the war that had swept into this place.
