The bombardment came from the town where Camila's team had set out, more than three hundred kilometers away. It crossed the jungle and landed with precision less than two hundred meters from the heavy armored vehicles. The heavily armored troops, hover bikes, and assault squads advanced alongside the artillery fire flying overhead, bathed in flame and ash as they silently poured death upon the enemy. Only an army that had carved discipline and composure into its very soul could possess such coordination and capability. Even King T'Challa of Wakanda felt a pang of envy at this army's cooperation, while Laura Croft, who had never seen warfare on such a scale, was awed by the scene before her.
Although she had tried to stay far from the counterinsurgency battlefields during her expedition in Syria, she had still witnessed the U.S. military attacking local armed groups. The density of firepower there was worlds apart from this thirty-kilometer killing zone. Watching from ten kilometers away was practically the same as joining the battlefield; she could almost hear the gunshots of the Gene-modded Warrior snipers.
"So... where is Chakchel's Dagger?" Laura Croft asked.
She already had Ischel's Silver Casket in her hands, so she was worried that the massive bombardment might damage Chakchel's Dagger. By now, she had spent some time making herself as clean and presentable as possible. Nakia, the only woman in the Dora Milaje who had not shaved her head, had helped considerably. Hammurabi had also taken out the portable medical kit from his waist pouch to treat her wounds, covering the open abrasions on her forearm with artificial-skin spray and assuring her that no scars would remain.
"I've sent the photos you took to every Gene-modded Warrior's tactical terminal. If they find Chakchel's Dagger, they'll bring it back." The Emperor
