S.W.O.R.D. Space Station—or rather, through the joint efforts of the City of Immortals, the Yugoslav Federation, the Mars Foundry, and scientific research factories—had transported materials and equipment bit by bit to the designated location like ants hauling supplies, using gravitational slingshots and Void Engines. Engineering drones and shuttlecraft then processed them, transforming a space station that possessed only the most basic defensive and docking functions into an orbital defense and observation station called "S.W.O.R.D." It now handled the vast majority of void defense, space observation, and voidship repair and resupply duties.
The station's methods of observation were not limited to space telescopes. It relied more heavily on communication between Psionics. Its most important information-transmission device consisted of massive coils made from psionic materials, machinery built with secrets of mechanical technology beyond ordinary comprehension, rows of cooling conduits, and orderly golden altars. Together, they linked the thoughts of Psionics into a vast psionic matrix, amplified by a large device manufactured in the City of Immortals, allowing it to receive information from the void while transmitting vital messages. Most of the Psionics aboard this station came from Kamar-Taj and several schools willing to submit.
Now, this device jokingly called the "telegraph" received an order. The original text had been placed inside a blastproof encrypted briefcase and escorted by a five-man tactical squad wearing void all-environment combat suits. After passing through layer upon layer of security, it was delivered beyond a three-centimeter-thick black iron door. The person in charge of the facility personally unlocked the briefcase with an electronic seal, then opened the seal on a parchment written by a short-range psionic telegraph. The contents came into view.
"Address: Himinbjorg, Asgard. Recipient: Heimdall."
The opening alone, along with the ornate decorations along the parchment's edges, was enough to make the facility director treat
