Major D.J. covered the ghastly pile of flesh and blood with the cloth again and said gently, "You need some rest, Peters. After an accident like that, we're all under a lot of pressure." He looked around, frowning worriedly. He had barely managed to piece together a body, but it offered no further information. All he knew was that the victim had suffered terribly before death. They were now stranded at the edge of the Solar System, accompanied by nothing but silent, freezing space. The crew of the Event Horizon from seven years ago had all become mangled remains, and another ship from Earth was supposedly approaching with its sights set on the hyperspace engine. Under such pressure, it was perfectly normal for the crew to suffer mental breakdowns.

Dr. Peters wiped away her tears. The chill of her fingers cleared her head somewhat. "I'm going back to the Lewis and Clark to bring back some psychiatric medication," she said, sniffling.
