"Why did he come back? We searched for him for so long. We used haruspicy and augury; all that was left was asking Madame Butterfly and Styx Lady!" Jeanne cursed irritably, arms crossed. Divination was an exceptionally exhausting task. Searching through every vague omen for an answer was tiring enough, not to mention personally slaughtering lambs and extracting their entrails. That sort of work demanded extensive cleanup afterward. On the day she performed haruspicy, she had soaked in the bathtub for a full two hours before finally washing away the mutton smell from her body.
Every breeze here carried the stench of feces and industrial waste. She did not want to stay here for another second. Thinking of all the effort and time she had invested, Jeanne wished Salomon would appear right in front of her so she could empty a magazine into him or slash him hard with her sword. The extremely irritable Jeanne tried to calm herself with deep breaths, only for the foul air to worsen her mood.
"Our divination triggered his defense mechanism, so he came to find you? He isn't hiding somewhere in fear now, is he? And this mission should have been issued to us by Kamar-Taj. Missions on the South Asian subcontinent are Kamar-Taj Arcanists' territory. He must have some scheme for sending us here!"
"Is he nothing but a schemer in your eyes?"
Bayonetta smiled and waved, taking the lead through the portal back to Oxfordshire Manor.
"He told me that the Vishanti no longer responded to the requests of Kamar-Taj Arcanists. The Arcanists have lost their safest source of magic and can only draw upon the most primal, most violent energy of the Outer Dimensions." The Black-haired Witch shrugged. She had never understood the superiority complex of those mortal Kamar-Taj Arcanists.
